All these scenes and not a single vote for Mad Max: Fury Road. And that's trifling.
I still get a laugh out of the flaming guitar guy.
"So, umm, what exactly is my job again?"
"Provide us with bad a** guitar riffs and pyrotechnics while we chase people in the desert."
"Why am I doing this?"
"Because its bad a**."
Let’s be totally honest here though. It really, really was totally bad ass. Pure undiluted awesome.
The truck was amazing. The redundant engines, the armored driveshafts, everything. So cool.
I have Mad Max and The Road Warrior and have probably watched them a dozen times each. But Fury Road was incredible in its own way. Identifiably a Mad Mad movie but also new and disturbing in unexpected ways.

You all got it wrong. Smokey and the Bandit trumps them all. The car chase was basicly the entire movie.
Chariot, sweet chariot, sweet chariot ride...
Not the reason why I want a '71-73 Mustang. But it sure adds to the list.
(should have read my horoscope this morning!)
What you want is 'Eat My Dust' with Ron Howard for pure cheese. Then If I remember correctly he filmed 'Grand Theft Auto' which was chase scenes were stitched together from a dozen other B movies. Every time they had to fit in a new car chase they would steal the matching car for the previous movie's chase scene, then show that other movie's chase scene. Basically he sampled a bunch of car chases before Hip Hop took that path.

Think I'd vote for Bullitt - old fashioned I guess
Edit - embedded video... it was there when I hit Post. Not here now. ???
Honorable mention for It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World. No muscle cars, no CGI, probably no stuntmen. Doubtful many second takes. Just crazy driving by old farts in Sunday clothing.

Rendezvous hands down! That high speed drive into Paris in a Ferrari is so breathtaking and then when she runs to him you understand why!!
A short one, but I really like the chase at the beginning of Quantum of Solace. Plenty of DBS and Alfa noises...What's not to like?

Except that was a Mercedes diesel with Ferrari noises dubbed in.
Entire Smokey and the Bandit movie or Robin gets my vote..

In reality. In the film it's a Ferrari. Suspension of disbelief is paramount.
I am 99% sure Ron Howard's GTA was a fully made film. Scenes from THAT movie were chopped into any number of other movies produced by Roger Corman who agreed to fund Ron's movie GTA.
I keep seeing people say 'To Live And Die In LA' has such a great car chase. I just watched it again recently and I simply don't see it. There is some good stuff in there, yes, but it certainly isn't close to being the best. Any movie that uses undercranked film to make things look fast instantly loses--which is why as much as I love 'Mad Max' it will never be a top five contender.
I'd take 'Ronin' or 'The Driver' any day over the LA flick. Besides, how excited am I really supposed to get over a chase with a brown Chevy Caprice?
What was the movie where the guy in the duster is being chased by the truck?
Has "Dirty Mary Crazy Larry" been mentioned yet? Quite a few good chases in that movie.

It's hard to suspend disbelief when you hear an engine run up through three gears and the car isn't actually accelerating.
It's the same reason why I can only watch Climb Dance with the sound off. The sounds don't match the giant boost gauge clearly visible on the dash.

Not sure how to embed from my tablet. This the chase scene from Corvette Summer. That T/A though!!!!

Yes, that's got a lot of really good scenes in it.
One of my favorite chase scenes. Steve Mcqueen in The Hunter.
Link to the scene.

I remember that scene from the one time I saw that movie from when I was a little kid. I had no idea Steve McQueen was in it.
Now that you've all aired your opinions, the only >correct< opinion is Ronin.

Probably the easiest way would be to own a brown Chevy Caprice.
Well all the usual suspects are named (Ronin). So I say Swordfish since it served as my introduction to the brand of TVR.
Who am I? Dakar Scene
And the only known for the GIF Who am I? Evo IV scene (This is literally the only video I could find of it)
Also the entire movie of Børning. It's hilariously Norwegian.

Just watched this again thanks to you. I don't think this gets enough credit. It's better than 90% of whats been suggested here.
