It would be interesting to see an article on buying logbooked race cars. You could probably do a series of articles, but even generic ones for production based cars and another for purpose built cars may be a good overview split.
There is so much in the way of difference to non-modified that a "how to treat value" article would be great for the production based.
For the purpose built, a "how to find and establish value" would be good.

DAMN, you're fast!
Big European luxo cruisers that are a good bet.
This is totally for a friend.
There are so many diamonds in the rough that depreciate because of the badge on the hood, but are actually pretty fair bets. X308, X350, W220, C216, etc.
The NC Miata could be the next big thing. I'd like to see one on C6 Corvettes too. OBS and NBS Chevy trucks too.
Saabs
the last gen 9-5s are so good looking....
MGs
E90 335i cabrio
okay now I'm just thinking of cars I want.
Oh! Cayennes. 1st and 2nd gen

Well said; plus those Luxo barges depreciate like a lead ballon as the interior wears and the shiny goes away.

Arguably, much of it is also as they get out of warranty and shockingly expensive (if done by dealer) maintenance and repairs become a reality.
In reply to Apexcarver :
Log booked race cars? Too many variables. Who built it? There is some great and awful work done by DIY even some shops. ( they can lose some key people.
What sort of care has happened in the meantime ? Accidents? neglect?
Results? What sort of driver?

That's kind of my point. Cars like later X308s and early 350s are dirt cheap on parts and some parts you can get at a Ford parts counter. Hence my request for the diamonds in the rough
One of my favorite cars was my W210. In 275k miles, it needed exactly one repair part. That part was a $275 heater valve, but having only spent $275 in nearly 300k qualifies it as a reliable choice in my book.
