Any recommendations for tent camping there?
Turn three is my favorite place to camp at road atlanta. There is much camping around the track it is really a matter of personal preference. the mitty is not particularly crowded so picking a spot should not be difficult.
For the Mitty, camp close enough to Vendor's Row (and the CM/GRM tent) to go there often. The stretch between T3 & T4 is a good spot for that. There's better places to camp to see racing action..but at a vintage race, there's not gonna be much. That being said, the hill overlooking T5 is popular when Petit comes to town, and there's a lot of space on the outside of the circuit down the backstraight. Lots of people camp over there just so they can see cars hooning at full tilt. Again..vintage race, there might not be much of that.
Also, only hot shower on the property is the paddock bathroom back between (and a lil' past) the tower & the garage. I was lucky last year..we camped between 3 & 4, and it got warm enough during the day to take a cold shower in the place down by the infield road.
EDIT: Me & the kids at Mitty 2010. Sunburned but happy on Sunday afternoon..
I will bring everything that I need that I can fit into a Miata along with clothes for my wife and a banjo (don't ask, it won't make it to The Mitty). So, I won't be bringing much... Thanks for the advice on camping spots.

depending on what happens this weekend with the Porsche Team up at Lime Rock or the GTI Team out in Utah does, count me in!
I'll be there Fri & Sat, but I'm having the wife drive me home to a warm/dry bed on Saturday night after I drink all the free beer.
Camping does sound fun though. Might do that next year. Or this year if I piss off swmbo.
Karl - I live in Stone Mt, so drop me a line if you want to grab a brewski.

Wait, you have a swampy part and own a Jeep? You have your own mud bog and didn't tell anyone?

I do. Unfortunately, it's typically Honda racecars with slicks that are driven through said mudbog.
Things to do at Mitty ? april 29th and 30 th Noon — DIY AutoTune Presentation “What is MegaSquirt?” followed by Q&A (DIY AutoTune Car Corral)
Will be there all three days . . . no camping though
I haven't been able to convince Mrs. Zero to "rough" it just yet, so we'll be in a hotel in Lawrenceville. I'm trying to figure out where to post up my canopy for the weekend. We normally park it on Spectator Hill for most of the event, but we may come down to Turn 10 . . .
Well... as of right now... the Porsche Team is down to one car, so no need for my help, and the GTI is a no show for Miller as of yet.
So... looks like I will be attending the Mitty after all! I am thinking the Jeep ZAV will be there with the two big Revo EZ ups and my little grill and some beer. Where is everyone gonna be? Dont know if i should set up in 10a/b or over near turn 3....
Brad and Jay, where will you guys be???

Just be careful which golf cart you ride on. You're safe with most of us.
You'll need to log in to post.
