I agree. It would be cool if they have a number of bodies, and allow GM, Ford and Mopar engines (7+ liters)...even if they had a spec recipe for the motors.
I really like it, it's a good start even if a spec series. Better to have it than not ever try. Hopefully the series will expand to allow multi-brand engines and different body styles.
Hopefully it will be better than Shelby's attempt.
Still, part of what made Can-Am so exciting was the variation in the cars anyhow each team/builder interpreted the rule set.

Why not make the car spec and allow the teams to do whatever body they want? You do an homage to an unlimited series with a spec car? Unreal...
It would be better (IMO) to spec a max displacement, max aero, minimum weight, flat bottom, slab sides, non-composite chassis, etc and let builders essentially come up with all of that on their own---and that's about what they'd build when all is said and done.
