I'm wondering how much I would have to spend to get a lightweight seat for the Rabbit that would meet the Street Prepared rules:

Some nerd said: The seating surface must be fully upholstered. Any replacement seat must be a full back, bucket type automobile seat incorporating a functional headrest. Kart seats, low back dune buggy seats, and other similar types of seat are expressly prohibited.

So that rules out the wingback chair in Jeremy Clarkson's MB. :(

It only has to be comfortable enough to drive to events and make a few runs. It has to be sorta cheap, because I'm cheap, but light enough to make it worth doing. So if anyone here has a grassroots compromise, shoot.

As an alternative to buying "race" seats, I've thought of getting some early stock seats to replace the Corrado seats I have now. I'm sure they're lighter, but they have zero lateral support. Since I have no cage, I won't be using a harness. I would probably still use one for the passenger seat to save some cash unless they're much heavier than I think.

Used Kirkey seat. That's what we did for our '09 Challenge car, and will most likely do again for '10.
