In reply to Rodan :

Mine was a K9 unit so the idle hours are kinda high. It also REEKED of dog. Like reeked so bad you had to drive with the windows down. There was dog hair packed into every crevice. I gave the interior a good cleaning but it was still intolerable.

So I decided to tear into the HVAC system. I took the blower motor out and cleaned it. The heater plenum was gross. That's when I discovered that GM did not equip this generation of trucks with a cabin air filter. There is a provision molded into the heater box but no door. There is a retrofit kit that was easy to install. But once I got the opening cut, I could see the A/C evaporator. And it was completely covered with a thick mat of moldy dog hair. I had to rig up a nozzle on my shop vac to get into the box. Then I used a plastic brush and a garden sprayer with Odoban to scrub the evap.

That made a 1000% difference along with a couple of ozone treatments and charcoal bags.

But yeah, if Racing Computers is dead set on a police SUV, avoid any K9 vehicles.
