Has anyone used cryogenic rotors on their vehicle and found they were better in some respect to a regular rotor? SWMBO has a particular talent for warping rotors. I'm not sure how it happens as all seems normal when I ride along and when she's driving but the kill list for rotors includes

Mini Cooper S Nissan Titan Saturn SL1 VW Jetta Mazda5

I know with the Titan it ended up being a recall by Nissan due to the OEM pad composition causing hot spots on the rotors and warping them. The Mazda5 now has warped rotors and I found this cryogenic rotor option. Changing the mysterious driving habit that causes this is not going to happen as she is SWMBO after all.

BTW- My last daily driver was sold with over 90K on the original brakes so I'm pretty sure it's not me.

My friend does this to commercial fleet vehicles, and he says they just don't wear out.

Other than that, I don't know...

That's weird. Either she's riding the brakes, or she's secretly a top street touge driver. Does she deliver tofu?

riding the brakes and sitting at lights with the brakes on.. holding the heat in one area of the rotor

When I did the brakes on my 93 Civic Ex Coupe, that I tend to drive harder the maybe I should, I used the Cryostop rotors and Hawk pads from TireRack. That was a couple of years ago and I haven't had any issues. The old rotors weren't warped so I can't say they solved anything. I do Plan on using them on my 95 Accord when it gets new brakes. Its rotors are starting to warp.

brake pulsation due to "warped" rotors is 99+% caused by uneven corrosion and uneven distribution of pad material transfer to the rotor, which causes friction variation on the surface of the rotor. having said that, sometimes rotors do get distorted due to improper wheel lug torque. my '03 odyssey with OE aluminum wheels seems to be particularly sensitive to this.

I am partial to Frozen Rotors.com.....if you are interested I can help hook you up.

My road race neon would warp a set of rotors in a weekend of sprint racing.....after switching to Frozen Rotors, I am now going almost an entire season!

They don't warp, and they don't seem to wear out!

In reply to AngryCorvair:

Agreed.

On a related note: It seems that cryogenic rotors don't wear out, but do they stop the same as regular rotors?
