Has anyone tried to flock a dash board?
I've been reading about it on forums for S13 and Subie owners and it looks like a cheap and useful way to cut down the glare from my dash. I have enough space to start a greenhouse on under the windshield on my camaro and I was thinking about flocking the plastic dash cover to cut down on the glare. Looks like a kit runs about $25 bucks. Any issues with doing this on hard plastic? Too hard to keep clean for a DD?

Per did it on the rear deck of the Saab rally car. Looked great and eliminated glare. I'll find the issue it was in when I'm back at the office.
it's been a thought of mine with the saab as well.. as it is near impossible to find an uncracked dash for those cars
It beats those carpet-pad type deals they sell at AutoZone.

I've been thinking about flocking my Miata dash. I've never had a problem with glare (maybe because my dash is always dusty) but I think it looks cool.
That looks like one of those Fleckstone dashes from a minitruck circa 1992.

I shot the dash of the Targa Miata with flat black paint. Worked great.

Wearing polarized sunglasses is easier.
I have fingered it's crack but never flocked it.

I actually have some leftover from the Saab and am considering redoing the 2002 dashboard---fixing the cracks and flocking it instead of $1400 for a new dash pad.
Per
I want to flock a motorcycle helmet.
I also want to Flock Carmen Diaz.
Like this stuff gonna try some

In reply to Joe Gearin:
Thanks for mentioning the flocking on the Saab. We also do the flocking in-house, but it is so easy anyone can do it. If anyone has questions about the flocking ask away.

For flocking on plastic or vinyl dashboards we recommend priming it with a plastic primer first.
I'd love to see a tech article in GRM about how to repair a cracked dash pad and then cover it with flocking.

You can either expandable spray foam the crack or if it is small enough, panel bond the two pieces back together. Then just refinish how you like. Something similar: http://www.rangerpowersports.com/forum/f24/how-glass-your-dash-136217.html

No, seriously. It was only 16 when it started showing the crack - way too young for trashy flocking. At 21... it's got years and some wear on it. I can flock the E36 M3 out if it without regrets.

Agreed, that would be a good article.
I think an apt one considering all the crap cans we drive (myself included)
