Yeah, I'd rather an M2, but I'd rather the note that comes with a used M235i, plus it's supposed to be more comfortable. M240i is kinda in, but they cost more and don't seem to add much.

Factoid: strong chance I'll take an automatic. The missus can't drive stick, and my commute has gone to hell since school kicked in. Probably also seeking navigation and heated seats. Undecided on coupe/cabriolet. Undecided on xdrive, but probably going rwd.

Uses: 8+ hours a week in traffic. Road trips for 5+ hours every other month or so. Probably also receiver hitch for bike rack. Occasionally hauling 1-2 dogs short distances, though the wife's truck is primary dog hauler. May see snow one day, though I live in the south. Really would like it to not look stupid if I take up autocrossing again, and would like to be able to do a Track Night in America event. Autocross time is something well below 0.1% of my expected seat time.

Price aside, why not? ZF 8-speed in those is supposedly great.

ATS is another good option and is way, way cheaper. Although the auto trans on that vintage GM car is dogs**t.

Look into the 228s. Lighter, 50/50 weight balance, and you can get them with Brembo a and sport suspension if desired. Do manual seats and a sunroof delete and you have something close to 3050lbs.If power isn’t enough a tune gets you another 50hp.
