correct me if I'm wrong, but, isn't selling this ad at your cost kinda defeating the purpose of us buying the ad?
[/CtAG]
No, because at this point it's good to have help with the costs, and demonstrating the strength of our community is a very good message to put out right now to potential advertisers. And we'd feel weird making mad profit from this.
Margie
I was going to ask that but thought that I must be missing something.
We once got a fairly serious offer from someone to pay us $10,000-or 20,000 to put their car on the cover. It was a black Yugo. We said no, so there are some limits to our sleaziness.

I thought you lifted the "no black cars on the cover" rule?

How about $20,001 for a yellow 280Z that hasn't moved in a couple of years?
Seriously though, I just contributed to the fund, it will be great if we can get a full page ad.

Another donation just added. Who's next?
I haven't driven 20 miles total since 3/17, so
kicked in what I used to spend on gas in a week.

That's a Powerball goal right there! I swear to FSM if I win stupid money I'll be buying the cover for years to come (and oh my will some of the cars be....amusing)
Just sent some.
I put my forum name on the note.
Maybe we can have a list of contributors in a faded background.
We're really close to 1/4 page. A couple more days and we can do a two page fold out.
Tom , I guess we're too late for the June publication or is there any squeak room?
Tom Suddard said:Ok, here's the link to contribute to the forum ad:

I'll keep everybody posted on the progress!
In reply to Tim Suddard :
I should probably email you about the plan I'm working on then. I doesn't involve a cover, but definitely a full page ad and a resulting challenge rule that will follow.
I think that once we start to plateu on the amount raised, we should discuss one larger ad for one issue, vs. smaller and multiple issues. Might be more impactful that way? It could be a chance to do something a bit different for each (content) if we wanted, to.
I put a little more in... When we figure out what the ad is going to be, there will probably be more. Note: I specifically look to buy CRC products not *just* because they're awesome, but because they are a GRM sponsor.
The ad copy should be simple. Something along the lines of
" hey shiny happy person! Yeah, you! You should swing by the forum and the events grm puts on. Not only does it support motorsports, is supports families. Additionally, you get to see the berkeleyed up E36 M3 others are building and running. And the family the forum has become.
If you're an advertiser, step up. This ad was bought, paid for, and written by the readers as a show of support for the corner of the internet we call home. "
In reply to Tom Suddard :
Email sent.
It might be a mess of words as I sent it from my phone, but if there's confusion, don't hesitate to let me know

I've bought two CRC items over the winter at the local NAPA because they sponsor the Wednesday video.
Thought; when we get the gubment check and it's a plus to some of our accounts - that's a great time to donate!
In reply to Pete. (l33t FS) :
I thought you nailed it with the "Be safe rather than sexy" Volvo ad.
**Edit- moneys contributed
I got weirded out by PayPal and "additional unknown fees" and stuff.
Is there another method to contribute?
