Soooo... What if someone took a F5 33 Hotrod stage 1 chassis kit ($9990) and added a Miata drivetrain? Yeah, I know that these should be V8s, but seeing cheap, wrecked here and thinking Locost-ish thoughts made me wonder... My first thought was actually a 29' or 32'-ish street rod chassis. But those are probably not ridgid enough for light racing use. (autocross or more)

I'd at least check out 5.0 Fox body Mustangs first.

I feel like you'd get tired of the lack of power and sound real fast.

A duratec out of a ranger is already a huge leap over the NA/NB kit. Probably similarly priced too.

Miata engine would not be in the top 100 of engines I'd want to put in a kit car. The BP sucks dick. Use a K24 instead.

"Sucks dick" is a bit harsh - it's a reliable, solid powerplant that takes very well to forced induction. It also looks right in a vintage-styled car.

But I agree, I'd be likely to look at something different in this case.

My biggest issue is the vibes. The thing literally wants to make every single thing attached to it break or the bolts back out.

P-port rotary would be an amazing choice for a classic kit car as well. Roll into the car show sounding like you have an ENORMOUS cam. Open hood, head scratching commences.
