I've been "building" an MGA to take out drag racing. So far I've done a great deal on the body, a little on the chassis, and collected nearly all of the parts and pieces need to assemble the car. I've been specing it out to closely match the defunct NHRA Modified Sports Car class.

I just recently realized that it MIGHT qualify for an Autocross Class and would like a bit of info on that, as I remember going to the Auto Cross with a couple of friends and they seemed like a lot of fun. I checked the E Modified Specifications and believe that the MGA just might fit in.

Other than listing everything that's ready for the car, is there anything special or specific to the E Modified class that I need to be aware of. The Rules Book is very good, but there are some confusing areas as well. The body and chassis is MGA, the drive line from a Mustang, the front torsion bar suspension from a Beetle.

Any help at all?

EM is pretty open as far as rules go. Nothing you have listed seems to be a problem. The biggest thing I see in the rules is the stock vs modified tub. If you can't make minimum weight, claim modified tub and go crazy with the build.

Yup, read the modified tub section regarding fiberglass panel replacement and structural removal. The MGA came with an aluminum hood, trunk and doors as stock, the rest of the tub would really be needed to insure structural strength, so I might be able to stay in the stock tub class, but then I might run afoul of the other changes and need the options that modified tub allows for.

Probably stick with E Modified with modified tub and let everything stay as planned. Honestly, I'm just thrilled to find that the car will be legal for something other than drag racing. It'll, of course, be a load of fun on the strip, but Autocross (or possibly even hill climb) would make the car just that much more "useful" and increase the options on when and where to bring it for an outing.

I was even thinking of the "track days" held by various clubs here in Massachusetts, COM the BMW Club and the like, but it might not be legal for those events.
