picking up an 86 325e shortly. car is automatic

there is an 87 325i in the pull a part with a 5 speed. the trans rows through the gears nicely sitting there, and it looks like an aborted project that could have run when parked. so i am going tomorrow or sunday to buy the transmission setup... if it will work on the E model.

besides trans and pedals and whatever connects pedal with clutch, what do i need to pull? will the 2.5 i motor flywheel work on the 2.7 e motor or do i need to leave that there? just searched and got a list but can not find definitive answers if the I trans works on the E engine, something about not having a hole in the bellhousing for a sensor.

unfortunately i got underneath and spun the driveshaft and it is an open diff, i was hoping for a limited slip.

I have the pedals, brake booster, master cylinder and clutch slave from a '90 in my basement if you are interested. I think its everything you need under the dash except the switches.

i found this on a year old post, then i find other people saying it will work.

The trans would work, but it doesnt have the mounting hole in the bellhousing for the reference sensor.

so as of right now i am confused. does anybody have concrete info on if the non E trans will work on the E car? if this hole for a sensor is not there i would assume by making a pattern off the current trans with two bellhousing bolts as reference it could be drilled/tapped/machined/whatever.
