2000 Benz C280, rusty, cheap.

I'm selling my 2000 Mercedes. I've owned it since 2006. It's an excellent runner. I've never had any engine trouble. I've driven it everyday for the last 8 years and it's always been dependable. I've kept a log for all maintenance. The body is rusty and I had to install a by-pass switch to turn the blow motor on/off, I've also replaced many interior components. Kelly Blue Book has this car rated at $3,000, that is the low end of the fair value. I'm dropping this another $2,000 because of the body. Accepting cash only (No trades). No phone calls. Email only. PRICE TO SELL!
There is well over $2,000 in parts that will fit many models. Need to get rid of this fast, I'm only asking half of KBB!
Options:
- Sport Package
- Bose sound system
- Retractable Sunroof
- Integrated phone system
- Six cd changer in trunk
- Heated passenger seat
I did all the maintenance myself. Used full synthetic Mobil-1 oil every three thousand miles. Changed the coolent and Transmission fluid last summer. Just added 3 new tires.
I'm tempted, to have a cheap Benz. Should I? Or should I run?
To part it out? Sure!
Otherwise, a cheap rusty car is teh most expensive car you will ever own.

Agree, part out, fine, otherwise no.
never purchase a car with three new tires when the left rear tire is so severely underinflated in the for sale photo.

In my experience there is no such thing, unless you are willing to put up with half of the ancillary equipment (windows, locks, stereo, suspension, anything else hydraulically or pneumatically powered) not working or are willing to jerry-rig repairs as the dpo has already done with the fan. Generally the drive train is bulletproof. Everything else is an expensive time bomb.
Ok, you've quickly convinced me not to do this.
if the car and you were in the mid-atlantic I'd say buy it, strip the paint and do the mighty car mod etch rust mod, roll to Ocean City, MD for H2OI with a for sale sign and profit.
That thing has LeMons written all over it.
Fly & drive and spend a little more and get a nice one (not the exact model):

That is the start of the built to a price point MB cars. IIRC that's the chassis notorious for the front spring perches breaking off(they were spot welded on, with the welds in shear!)

201 and 210's are just as bad.
I wouldn't buy that one unless I as planning on parting it. If you do, and the drivers side outside mirror is heated and dimming, and NOT YET leaking, I want it. I'm on my third, and it started the death leak last week.
