They do have that flying car, Ford Anglia or something, I think.

+1 (I have a signed copy.....I started on the same number as Ed on a S. Jersey enduro one time)
Also +1 on Peter Egan's books. I have 3 of them, but also had the good fortune of pitting near him at Watkins Glen about 5 weeks ago. We had a great chat about Sprites and airplanes. Neat guy! (and another Aeronca fan too!)
And let me add Tuning the A-Series Engine by David Vizard
Also Tuning the Mini by Clive Trickey (one of the first books I bought related to race mods.....when I was 17). What a great name for a racing driver/tuner!
The Red Car; a fantastic book for young boys and girls. I read it when I was about 12 (when I was already an MG fan) but it had quite an effect on me.
Roadster, the book Chris Goodrich wrote (mentioned above) about building a Lotus Seven. Top notch!
Hertfelder came down to SC and rode our club's enduro, then wrote a really great 'Duct Tapes' about it, describing the bullet pocked road signs perfectly!
Gotta recommend Car Guys vs. Bean Counters by Bob Lutz. Amazing read on how GM started to go off the rails internally........and explains some of the cars that came out around 2001.

Honestly, the BEST book I have ever read...
Donohue was such a badass!
"Think Fast" by Neil Roberts.
It's given me (I hope) a better understanding of a number of things, the first couple that spring to mind being the dynamic effects of dampers through corner phases, and an introduction to a reasoned philosophy of suspension design with an eye towards keeping the variables as isolated as possible (i.e. so that one adjustment has fewer unintended consequences). Also like his emphasis on force-based roll centers (why would you calculate roll centers on the assumption that the inside wheel has anything like as much influence as the outside wheel given the forces involved?).
I don't think there's necessarily anything revolutionary here, but it's a lot of very good information packaged in a remarkably concise way.

Also currnetly about 1/3rd thru The Unfair Advantage... Doesn't matter that I've already been thru it about 30 times. I always go back to it when I get bored with anything else.
BTW, thanx Maroon for my new copy of it. My other one is quite a bit rougher, so if I ever get it back, I will probably offer it up here on some sort of free pass-it-on when you're done sort of deal. Too many people haven't read this book.
""
I have now sold three different copies of that book. I re-read it and pass it on to someone else for them to enjoy.
I don't think I'll be selling my copy anytime soon though.
The fast one by Robert Daley
very good novel about formula one in the early 60's. You can see a lot of the drivers of the day in the characters such as Von trips and Phil Hill. Happens to be some romance mixed in but the racing is excellent.

I bought that one after seeing it recommended on corner-carvers... Definitely some good info in there.
In reply to Maroon92: (regarding "The Limit")
Agreed it's not great. It was written (I think) to basically be a movie script. Tons of interesting details were left out. I have heard that Tobey MacGuire (sp?) is attached to it (obviously in the Phil Hill role). I hope at least 1 of the 3 rumor "race car" movies gets made: (1) The Limit - Tobey MacGuire (2) James Hunt/Lauda/1976 F1 WC - Ron Howard (3) Art of Racing in the Rain - Patrick Dempsey

The art of racing in the rain is already in progress from what I have heard.

Standard Catalogs? Do you just mean the usual suspects, or are you referring to something in particular? As you might imagine, Googling for "standard catalogs" doesn't suggest anything in particular...

I think it's been going on for some time. Read John De Lorean's book " On a Clear Day, You Can See GM" written back in the '70s. You'd think it was written just a few years ago.

Once I get my old copy back, you're first in line.

I thought everyone had these
Standard Catalog of American Cars.... Import cars... Trucks. Its a book that lists every spec of every model, year, brand, color, flavor, and astrological sign of every production vehicle ever produced.
