I wouldn't kick either out of bed... but I like the "I am so going to kill you" reputation of the 288 better

Well, at least the new one is still red. But I'll take the old one please.

Another vote for 80's awesomeness!

OK, every time I visit this thread, I get stuck on this post; So who has the the look of "moderate disapproval"Higgins or the Blonde? I can see the Blonde being the one due to the situation, but Higgins would have nothing to complain about if he was getting some.

In other Ferrari news, they've filled an initial prospectus for an IPO. Wall St. sez value of Ferrari should be between $4 billion & $11 billion IIRC. Let's buy controlling interest.

In the 80s, it was acceptable to have a moustache the size, shape, and texture of a small woodland creature.

I mean, okay, the 80s weren't 100% awesome. I'm blindingly honest, so I won't hesitate to admit to the existence of the Ford VV carb or the Holley 4180 (WTF were they THINKING??) or the Ford Tempo. I say those things as a Ford guy mainly because you gripe about what you know.

But no decade is 100% awesome, but the 80s sure were a hell of a lot awesomer.

I also (damned honesty again) recognize that in the actual 80s, people thought the 80s sucked...

That is the beginning of the end.

The 80's ruled for many reasons, chief among them their proximity to the 70's, which had no real redeeming qualities. Nostalgia aside, I'm sure just about everything is better now.

Putting the 488 in an ad next to the 288 is like trying to make Jennifer Garner look attractive by having her stand in front of that famous Ferrah Fawcett poster.

The 488 is a better car. The 288 is a better Ferrari.

The 288 is awesome, and so is the 488. As for the 80's we remember the good stuff, but what affordable car was worth a E36 M3 compared to what is available now? Hell a minivan from today would probably eat a 80s mustang or camaro's lunch.

240Zs and 2002s were just ten year old used cars, not absurdly priced collectibles.

You could buy E30s without rust on them.

I love the fact that the 308 is finally getting some respect. It's an icon--and still more affordable than a similar 911.

Of course in 1987 a BMW 325is cost $26,990--- which corrected for inflation is $56,697!

Makes a new M235i seem like a bargain! Maybe the 80s weren't so great after all....... remember the 80s also gave us parachute pants, ridiculous use of hairspray, Milli Vanilli, and the Cadillac Cimmaron.

Everyone spent the 80's making fun of the 70's, the 90's making fun of the 80's, etc. And 30 years later, it's cool again. The circle of life.

I'm not gonna play the "everything was better" game because it's tiresome. But the 288 GTO is a classic beauty, the 488 isn't.

100%.

It's like how the new generation of any car makes me like the outgoing one because the new one shows just how bad it could have been. Or how I don't like a group's new album until they come out with another one.
