The 4wd is not my thing, but I like the style. Shooting brakes rock.

If I was going to buy a Ferrari for around 300k, that's the one I'd have. Preferably in that wonderful Blu Tour de France.

If I could afford a ferrari, I figure I could probably afford a wagon or suv to go along with it. You can keep your utility. If I were to buy a ferrari I want an impractical, unapologetic supercar.

yea the front diff of the 4wd is actually driven off the front of the engine, no actual driveshaft going to it.

The cheapest used ones are still over $200k. Dammit. You guys need to keep talking them down as the Ferrari that's uncool so the price will collapse. Seriously.

Maybe you could pick up one of the Sultan of Brunei's derelict 456 wagons for cheap.

A friend and I were wondering if you showed up in Crewe with a handful of cash if you could convince Bentley to build a wagon. I think I'd like a Bentley wagon at least as much to be honest.

Late to the thread.

  1. I love it, it's one of the few modern F cars I even like.
  2. Whoever compared it to the Porsche beached whale, please wash your eye's out with bleach and serve a 10 year car penalty of having to drive a Camry to make up for that remark.
  3. I hate the term shooting brake when attached to anything less than about 80 years old. Once I'm benevolent dictator of the universe use of that phrase will earn a 10 year sentence to max security prison, second time offenders it will get much worse, you'll have to drive a Camry for the rest of your life.

Yeah, but would any of you want to own it out of warranty? I'll stick with my 308. I have the rear suspension disassembled all over the garage floor. Hand tools and a drop light. Try that with your FF.

There are RR wagons out there. Not a lot of them, but you can certainly get a Silver Shadow wagon. Very cool car. Big V8. Terrifying Citroen air suspension.

Late to this thread as well. I don't care for their looks and agree with the above statement that if I have 300 large to play with I'll have more than one car and snowey days will get something more utilitarian. I want my exclusive exotic to be more of a pure experience.

I'll add that last summer SWMBO and I were out in town in our elderly Miata and pulled up to a light beside an FF. I asked her if she recognized what it was. She guessed mustang based on the horse (not a car girl bless her heart). When I told her it was a 300,000$ Ferrari her response was priceless.

"But it's UGLY!"

Something about having a 2 speed transmission for the front wheels and a 7 for the rear really bothers me.

I like the styling. But then again I also find the C7 to be one of the best looking cars ever.

I do like that. Probably commissioned by the dude in one of the Middle-East oil countries with a huge collection of custom-made wagons and shooting brakes.

Someday I hope to be that guy, except in the Midwest instead of the Middle East.

So someone tell me how to track down a RR wagon? I think I can live with terrifying suspension and impossibly expensive parts.

I'm with Adrian on this one. Unless the car would work as a prop on some Masterpiece Theater period drama, don't go calling it a shooting brake. That whole shooting brake thread a while back really annoyed me.

And I like the Ferrari, looks a lot better in person than in pics.

I think that was taken at LeMAns and it's a British car.

There's always these http://www.bentleyspotting.com/2007/10/bentley-val-disere-by-jankel-bentley-or.html

It looks like Robert Jankel Design who made them went under in 2005, but they exist in the wild. Just be careful of the interior. You could get this: Which while not my taste isn't the end of the world.

OK, I've figured it out. IT's a Bentley Continental Flying Star made by Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera an Italian coachbuilder. Your's for circa £500,000 or approx. $750K
