Less rain than last year (a bit of sprinkles Friday afternoon), but we hit decent snow at 6k feet on the Cherohala Skyway. We had 7 Alfa Romeo's attend this year and they debated turning around but decided to press on!
Someone's car got backed into by the hotel owner (he stayed for free I'm sure), and at Fontana Dam another couple had oil pressure trouble and discovered a dry dipstick, but we took up a collection of quarts and got them back to the hotel. I think I might like the Devil's Triangle better than the Dragon, less traffic, more technical.
Even with the 40-50F during the day and 30F at night, I'd still rather be there today than going back to work.
(And Elkmont to see the abandoned resort town was a nice 30 minute side trip.)
