A 48" hi lift fits right under the rear seat.

Swap the cotter pin for the base out with a trailer pin, hammer the driveshaft tunnel down about an inch, bend up some flat bar, run bolts through the flat bar into the cabin (two on the sides, two on top), and punch holes in your carpet... she's good to go.

It takes me about 30 minutes to figure out how to get under there. I think I'll just get a rack and put one there.

I thought it was tough. I learned today that if you jerk either of the seat loops the thing pops up. Before that discovery, I used to lean over and lift both simultaneously.

I kept all kinds of stuff under there, good work!

(But I thought you were supposed to keep a Hi Lift loose in the back so it would fly up and smash you in the head in an accident!)

Bravo!

I had an XJ up until last August, when a teenage girl didn't see the red light and slammed into the back of me. Had that Jeep since I was 16; it was my baby. I've had other vehicles during that time frame, but the XJ was the only one I literally teared up over when I sold it (bought back the salvage from the insurance company and sold the Jeep whole. I just couldn't let it go to the scrap yard.)

Somehow that pic of the back seat has me really missing my XJ today.

I've had three so far... All my threads about "what car" I've posted lead me back to a 4th...

cool thanks for the tip. I had one on a rack, but would prefer in under the seat.

This is by far my favorite vehicle yet.

Also another tip... you know those silicone bracelets made popular by the yellow Livestrong bracelets? If you grab an adult sized one, you can twist it around the handle and the i-beam, isolating the handle from jiggling and making lots of noise. It also fits better under there than the poly keeper pictured above!

I mounted mine on my front bumper, actually it WAS my front bumper. Ahhhh the life of a kid with no sense of responsibility.
