So tell me more about locking a gm auto trans into 1:1 ratio. This really intrigues me, as that would make a mid engined v6 powered awd locost feasible.

Just look up "4T65E differential swap" or the breakdown of the final drive. I'd need one in front of me to figure it out, but I'm about 70% sure you can do it without precision machining of anything, just some degree of welding and grinding.

You'd need to weld the planetaries to the sun gear (or otherwise lock the sun gear to the carrier) and then grind the teeth out of the ring gear.

Due to the concentric nature of GM 3/4 speed front drive transmissions, the final drive is a planetary gearset, NOT a traditional ring and pinion. That is why this can work.

I was thinking weld the planets to the carrier and then grind them down so they won't interfere with the outer ring (which I think presses into the case). Then the mod is a drop in.
