We rather liked the new Focus, but it's not very much like the old Focus.

There were 2 things I really disliked about the Focus. The miniature speedo that was hard to read in the sunlight and the way the center console cuts in and pushes against your accelerator leg.
Seeing the 5-door Titanium Foci' on the street in person they're very sharp.
I haven't done the price comparison math at whatever those end up costing, but they catch my eye when they roll by.
They have some funky design cues, and the factory alloys are quite nice:
The article hits it spot on right off the bat though, the ST will be the one to own.
My siblings have had three first-gen Foci, so I have some experience with them. The new car is an order of magnitude more stylish, sophistocated and comfortable.
It weighs 2900 pounds?
Someone had to say it, I have no doubt it's nice though. Instead of a Fiesta, might have to tell my mom to get one of these.
To clarify: The base price we list is for the Titanium trim line. The base Focus starts at $16,500. Our tester stickered 10 grand above that thanks to its huge swath of options.
i looked at these before I bought my 3. The only way to get a stick is to get the strippo SE, as far as I know. I wanted a few creature comforts (moon roof, nice stereo, etc) and alloy wheels, and that wasn't happening if I wanted to row my own. Also, those tail lights are HUGE and I think they look dumb.

Actually the front is the problem for me.

Bare bones hatch with the sync system was $22,400 at our local dealer with a manual transmission. Small wheels/hubcapped sedan, with no syn was 20,930.

There are major rumors that the availability of a manual will spread across all Focus models. Especially since the Fusion will get it with a GTDI motor in it.
I would love to get a Titanium with a manual.

That's expensive! Wow... I paid less for my '12 3 S Touring Hatch with a moonroof, 10-speaker Bose with Bluetooth, 17'' alloys, and a stick than that sedan.
A lot of the new Fords are pricey. Even the Fiestas can crack $20k. Who is going to spend $27k on a Focus that's not the performance model?
These weren't selling all that well in my area until gas prices started creeping towards $4.00/gallon. I've looked at Focuses(Foci?) and Fiestas but finding one with a manual transmission is next to impossible.
Several people, here and in Europe, have complained about the console, and of course the automatic transmission. Sure hope Ford spreads the manual to all trim levels...tho I may go with a Mazda2 or Fiesta instead of a Focus.

They keep making them bigger and more expensive.
I guess the Fiesta is the small one now.

What you need is what was pictured by Failboat above, the SE Sport version.
