Almost every time I talk to my dad about working on cars he mentions an old tool my uncle had. He says it was a ratchet that you could wind up and when you broke a bolt loose with it, it would unwind and finish removing the bolt for you. Does this ring any bells for anyone and even better does anyone know where I could get one? I think it would make a cool gift.

Sounds like something that you might find at KaleCo Auto

Sounds similar to a tool we use in aviation. A ratchet impact for breaking torque. I believe made by Sweeney/Hydratight. Doesn't spool and unwind loosening bolt, just kinda hammers the bolt as you turn the ratchet.
