I have this thing sitting in the middle of my shop that needs to get painted so that I can get rid of it. I pretty much built it from a grease stain, so am inclined to continue with the DIY approach and paint it in the garage.
Waterbourne paint seems to have happened while I was not looking and I am not clear on whether that puts me out of the game or not.
I see solvent based paint sold on E-Bay;Is it possible to get solvent based paint in Canada shipped across the border?

The NAPA stores around here have a new water-based paint system for home DIY'ers that's supposed to be excellent. I know the home hobby water-based stuff has improved by leaps and bounds (so good within the last 3 years that I switched my entire collection over to it for hobby brush and airbrush uses).
I looked at getting set up so I could paint the odd panel in my shop, but by the time you buy all the reducers, hardeners, flex agents and so on (all of which have a shelf life) it was just too expensive. This was from a body shop supply place, so there could be hobby stuff that is cheaper. Have you investigated Eastwood?
This was built up from a $300 parts car. Painted in my garage with Tremclad. I put about $80 into the paint including sandpaper, thinner, tack cloths, etc. <img src="

yeah, google "$50 paint job"
It works but is a lot of work. I've read of great results when sprayed out of a gun
Not so much work, so much as time. Each coat requires several hours to dry and bugs/dirt have to be removed applying the next coat.
The cheap cost and lack of mess is a definite plus. Also paint repairs are as close as your nearest hardware store.

As God is my witness, I read "google $50 hand job"
It will be base clear not tremclad. Serious tool addiction to feed here. The underside engine compartment and interior are painted but when I went back for exterior paint they do not sell the real stuff anymore

Oh, you can find that on google too.
3-2-1 now Google will have a flood of those searches.
