I'll also point out that for only $33,300 more, you can upgrade to a base model Porsche Taycan–but you'll have to settle for only 402 horsepower.
At 60 months, that's only $1,304/mo with excellent credit. So...my mortgage.
Tesla Model S is comparable. The base model has a bit faster zero-to-60 time (3.1 to 3.25), but sells for $74,990.
I can't find anything that compares with that zero to 60 at that price point.
We can do the whole EV vs. ICE thing, but I'm comparing apples to apples here.
I really want to love it. It's so close. But I think I'll hold out for a GTI-type (and sized) car. Whether its made by VW, Hyundai, or someone else.
Maybe a Mustang Dark Horse? That's a similar amount of money and performance, but a very different type of car and nearly a second slower to 60 with the stick.
An M3 starts at about $78k, and again is slower.
This might be a tough car to beat for the money, even if it's still too expensive.

I bet these are going to break some records. Looks like they spent significant engineering time to make these fun to drive, from my experience with the Elantra N, I anticipate they'll be just that plus some surprises.
It's certainly supercar quick in a sprint. I have no idea how it handles. But yeah, at $66K, it's hard to beat in that limited metric of 0-60 if that's your thing.
Hyundai/KIA have come a long way in recent years regarding performance and luxury vehicles.

That's where I'm at, too. Honestly, when I'm online I feel like the only person on Earth that would struggle to notice an appreciable difference between a 0-60 sprint in 3.1 seconds vs 3.25 seconds or whatever.
A GTi sized vehicle that gives a bit of performance, maybe just around 4-5 seconds to 60, and can turn, stop, provide decent range, and cost accordingly would be enough for me.
For those reasons, I'm waiting to the release of the road going version of the VW ID.GTI concept or whatever it's called.
We'll see. In the meantime and back on topic, good on Hyundai for bringing another N product to the market.
I dig it. Think it looks awesome as well. Unfortunately, $70k for a vehicle that with insurance would be hundreds more than my mortage won't be happening.
But I'm glad they're building it and I hope it's successful.

2021 RWD Taycan's have depreciated into this range and AWD Taycan's are just a bit above it. Yes used isn't new, but I'll take the 3 year old Taycan that someone else farted in the seat first over one of these any day of the week.

I think this thing is closer in size, weight, form factor and power to something like a Jeep SRT, and the price is pretty comparable to that.

You weren't kidding. A quick search showed at least a handful of used Taycans in the high $60s, low $70s.

They're very large cars. Lot of optical design tricks to fool you into thinking this SUV is more wagon-sized. It's not.
Interestingly enough, rumors floating around that Lamborghini is benchmarking their next car against this Hyundai

Having driven one one track, and more importantly, having ridden in one being piloted by a very competent pro driver: They're way more capable than their weight and size would lead you to believe.

Scale is definitely off. I have a picture standing next to the Ioniq N when I attended the "N Driving Experience" at Sonoma Raceway and the roofline is below my shoulder, and I'm 6'0". I'll have to disagree with calteg. They're not that big. That's some weird photoshop going in on the posted pic above. I'll edit this to add that photo later when I can find it.

OR, here's another comparison point: We test drove one compared to our current Golf Sportwagen and the Ioniq was deemed too small relative to the GSW by both wife and I. There's nothing behind the rear seats. It's taller, for sure, and when we parked them side by side, it had a little more wheelbase, but was essentially the same overall length. We wanted it to be SUV sized...she wants some more space for child rearing gear. And it was going to be a lateral move, at best, in that department.
Yeah, look at the doors. They look way too big compared to that guy. Maybe it's the camera perspective. I'm sure they didn't photoshop the guy onto the car--they could have just had him stand there. I think of the thing more as a wagon than an SUV. I will pay more attention next time I see one. Then again, I think all vehicles now are slightly larger than 1:1 scale anyway, so who knows.
I think they're cool, though. Misha Charoudin took one around the Ring, and it was very fast. Very capable.
