what would people bring to the challenge?
a weed whacker with some casters and a seat on it.
edit: did you mean what beer to bring to the challenge, or what money you'd have left after the beer budget to make a vehicle?
Steam whistle. Great beer and a cool bunch of folks, just look at their fleet:

For my competitors, I would be filling them with Great Divide's Claymore Scottish Wee Heavy Ale. 8 to 8.5% alcohol and goes down as smooth, easy, and fast as chocolate milk Then I could win just by pushing my car through the course
I like fancy beer. I like IPAs, lagers, porters, stouts, amber ales, Belgian ales, pale ales...
But when I'm wrenchin', give me something cheap and 'Merican. Yuengling usually does the trick.
Full Tilt Old Line Ale. I can only find it at a few growler filling stations and not in bottles yet, but it's a damp good medium bodied amber ale that has a balanced hop note with a clean finish that begs for another taste.

Wellers bourbon. Bourbon is king.
Buffalo trace. Really anything from that distillery. But if I'm sharing...whatever i need to bribe the judges. If they like bourbon barrel....i get my hands on every bottle of surly darkness possiblem if ipa, im calling bob and putting a favor in for a keg of eastside. Maybe ill plumb my bottle to the keg instead of the car.

Wondering what people would be driving after spending all the budget on beer, not what kind of beer they would be drinking.
Pretty sure I would be on a home-built unicycle myself. Maybe roller blades.

When does the beer budget go into play? The whole year or after acquiring the car?
