Button came back and the tets failed. We try again someday.
He tried a copper plating, but oddly it didn't take. He tried a few more times on a few different surface preps and it just came right off.
It sandblasted nicely. Maybe we'll do a copper candy paint when it comes time.
Have you considered Powder Coating? Pick a color and finish, of course you'll have to hand paint the GMC and ring.
I had aircraft struts (4 X 38") done for about $100. For something that small, just have them thrown it in when they get a batch of [your color choice] come through.

Yes, but if the copper works, and looks right, I think I have some other uses for it on the truck which powder coating won't work well for.

Sorry, it was a play on the "polishing the old horn button" thing that apparently no one understood. No worries. My sense of humor is often underappreciated.
There are some neat electroplate paint finishes these days. It was big in the sport bike crowd about 15 years ago.
