My 79 would be this. with a turbo.
Oh damn... I forgot about those.. You win the 79 battle!
I almost bought one of those when I was about 16-17 yrs old. It already had a 360 and 4spd swap IIRC... Dad raised an eyebrow and I went looking for a different fight.. I should have stuck to my guns... Love that car..

Yes and Yes, additionally the exhaust smells like freshly baked baguettes.

Add in your choice of boosted FWD drivetrain. Rabbit struts and budget coilover parts.
Or, I hear some scuttlebutt about a VR6 fitting back there. VR noises coming from the back of one of those would be absolutely glorious. I guess that's outside of your "rules" but, I'm ok with that.
This, 1980 Mustang, 5.8 out of a F150, SN95 spindles and brakes, SN95 GT 17" rims SN95 8.8 rear end with disc brakes and however much stuff I could get from Maximum Motorsports for the suspension.

I like the welding closed of wastegates.
Why aren't you doing this?

scratch that, how abut '75 TR8 with LS in it.
1969 - Since I'm old I will stick with my dream car. One that I will own at some point in my life.
Only need a 10' space in the garage. I would go Honda power and sell off all vintage parts.

1961 Renault Dauphine - with nissan vq engine (the VQs were OEM in recent renaults)
1974
Being a GM fanboi I'm looking at the last of the Big Block Vette's.
'74 had the split rear bumper nobody likes and slug slow small blocks. Very trashed examples can be had for challenge money. Gut interior and bend up a few aluminum panels for trim and dash,(cheaper than fixing it). Swap meet together a 454, 15x12 diamond wheels in cut out fenders with used slicks. Plasti-dip paint job and hold on for dear life!
I was born in 1986 so I would go with a C4. I do appreciate the hard-edge bumpers of the earlier C4s compared to when I was a little younger.
I would trade for Z51 suspension parts. I don't know if GM made any turbochargers that flow enough air for a 350 twin turbo setup, though.
'78 Chevette + something that starts with an "L."
1983 here. So given the track record of Turbo Dodges at these events I'd feel pretty confident in grabbing one of these do do the dirty work with.
One of these + all that stuff that made the Shadow win last year should make for a good showing.

Kindof.
I'm just skipping the whole part where it starts with an 85 626 GT hacking in Miata subframes, and just starting with a 93 Miata in the first place.
550cc injectors won't cut it, so i'll probably go 2000cc. The TII Hitachi turbo won't make enough power, so i'll start with an S366. Mazda rear end choices aren't great for what i'm looking for, so i'll use a Ford 8.8 instead.
