I've ordered a new set of wheels for my Europa, but they use a Ford PCD (4 x 4 1/4"). I have a set of front hubs on their way from the UK in the Ford PCD, but the rears are going to be a bit of a challenge as I fabricated the rear uprights using VW Golf bearings & hubs, and early Miata rear calipers. I think I can use Ford Contour hubs with Focus rear rotors, but as the rotors are slightly larger in diameter than the VW Rabbit rotors I'm currently using, I'll need to move the caliper. I've read that you can still use the early rear caliper with the later bracket.
So, long story short, does anyone know the difference in mounting dimensions.
Mounting points on the hubs are the same. The only difference between the 1990-93 and 1994-00 rear brackets is the latter takes a slightly larger rotor.
1990-93:
1994-00
If you get a set of 2001-05 "Sport" calipers and brackets (optional in 2001-02, standard in 2003-05) you can bolt them on to the same mounting points. They have a slightly larger piston. Here's the rotor they fit over.
Thanks Keith!
Time for me to update my 3d drawing and see if I can make everything fit.
Forgot to mention - the pad footprint is determined by the bracket, so you'll have to match the pads to the bracket and not necessarily the caliper.

I did not realize '03-'05s all got sport calipers. Learned something new today!

...in the US. Not in Canada and I don't know the details in Europe.
And the parts catalogs are full of errors. Safest to call any USDM 03-05 a Mazdaspeed when buying brake parts.
All Fords with 4x4.25 used the same rotor register, as far as I can gather. An '83 Escort rotor should fit, so will Focus, the front or rear of a Contour or front drive Cougar, etc.
You can also cut the OD of the rotor down to clear, as long as the pads don't run into the hat.
Pete,
Thanks for the info on the rotors. I've sent an order off to Rockauto for the hubs and a pair of Focus rear discs. Hopefully all of this will fit inside the wheels I'm getting.
