Converted school buses were very popular up here until easy credit let everyone convince their wives they needed enclosed trailers to go racing. I don't see why they wouldn't still work as long as you are realistic about what it can and can't do. It won't be fast, it won't be overly comfortable. It should safely and reliably get you to and from the races.
I would love to get a bobbed deuce and a half for the compound. I think I could help the uncomfortable part by swapping a late model cab from a Freightliner or International.
