New Bugatti Galibier 16C

This is the Bugatti Galabier 16C, a concept which heralds the introduction of a new high performance saloon due to go on sale in 2013, commanding a price tag of around £900,000.

Officially the Galabier has been designed to gauge customer reaction to a four door, four seat Bugatti, but insiders are keen to make it once Veyron production ends in 2012.

The Galabier is four-wheel drive and power comes from the same W16 engine as the Veyron, albeit with twin mechanical superchargers, rather than the four-turbochargers of the mid-engined Sportscar.

And unlike the sportscar the Galabier is thought to have a conventional 8-speed torque convertor automatic transmission, rather than a DSG system.

The doors and wings of the Galabier are made from aluminium, but the rest of the body is constructed from carbon-fibre and Schreiber admitted that the front end of the chassis was also largely made from carbon-fibre to add stiffness and weight.

Veyron yes, this . . . not so much.

The only place wood paneling looks good in terms of automotive decor is the back of an 83 E series van, with staggered wheel fitment and a wolf howling at the moon or Merlin the wizard airbrushed on the sides and tinted porthole windows.

Very similar to the EB112 which never went into production in the early 90s

The headlight lenses are slightly reminiscent of a VW CC.

The exterior is kinda nice, but then again, I'm one of the few people who likes how the Veyron looks. It'd be better with a lot less chrome.

It has the same sort of shape as the Panamera. I think it is stunning.

I like this a lot more than I probably should. If I was an insanely wealthy weirdo I could totally see picking one up. I have an extreme weakness for shooting brakes. This was one of my favorite cars when I was a kid:

Conceptually, this sort of reminds me of the John Dodd Rolls Royce, which was pretty much my dream car when I was 9 (well, that and the 959). If none of you know what that is, picture a low, wide shooting brake body with a hood long enough to contain a 27 liter Rolls Royce Merlin V12. Which is to say longer than the rest of the car.

Yeah, my color scheme involved painting the hideous shiny bits outside, and redoing the interior completely...

I like the interior. Refreshingly free of buttons, which means it'll never make production.

The interior reminds me of a boat cabin/cockpit.

They took everything that was right about the Veyron, threw it away, and replaced it with everything that is wrong with the Porsche Panamera. Whoever designed that thing desperately needs a sound smack in the head.

I am sorry to disagree but that is stunning. I love it. Different colors maybe but that is a stunner of a car.

The front is too generic.. part Audi, part VW, a bit of Bentley or Rolls... and the back end lifted right of a Porsche. .. except for a weird butt crack. Just for good measure they seem to have taken the chrome 20's off an OG Oakland donk, because nothing says class like chrome...

It's not unpleasant to look at, but if you're going to build a concept car it should use a new concept, not a bunch of borrowed ones.

Because you see so many cars with hinge hoods these days, and bar post center windows, and a roof line that is not squared off and a follows through of the hood peak.

I digress a two door with a sweeping back like a teardrop it would look better with that front end.

The center hinged hood and the line running up the windshield, over the roof, and down the back window are just gimmicks. They appeared on older cars because they served a purpose, but here they're just bling.

Carrying over styling elements where they serve a purpose I like, Porsche's use of similar vents on the 959 and more recent 911s, Ferrari's use of vents on the 288GTO similar to those on the 250 GTO, Lambo's contiued use of rims that reference the old phone dials... those all work well, as does the front grill shape on the new Bug. They've been adapted to current models in a way that is still a functional aspect of the design.

Crap that's added to a design just to add bling doesn't do it for me. The port vents on Oldsmobiles, the fake hood scoops on Mustangs... and now the pointless center bar on the Bug.. is that really the styling family they want to associate their brand with?

Finally, a car that matches my Superbowl rings!

I dont like the front end. Using the P-car chassis could be good? I love the interior.

There are so many different styling cues going on that it makes my head spin.

That's just about the most hideous collection of different looks that I have ever seen on one vehicle.
Definitely designed by a committee or else they just put random car parts/looks in a hat and then built whatever was pulled out.

Reminds me of the car in that old 50's song where the guy worked on the car line and built a car out of different brands of parts.

I like it. I'm not a big fan of the Veyron, but this looks pretty cool. With less/no polished aluminum, that is. Don't know what they're aiming for in the US market, but 900,000 British pounds has got to be knocking on 2 million bucks. There is a collection of vehicles I would rather spend that money on.
