My uncle is thinking about a pretty basic newer Frontier, he likes the fact that it's been basically unchanged for years and is a pretty proven vehicle.
It'll probably be a few years old when he buys it, anything he should run away from or worry about?
As long as he buys one with a manual gearbox or an auto built after 2011 or twelve (kind of foggy on exact year) he'll be fine.

They fixed the radiator design around 2008-2009 I thought?

You are quite probably correct. I did say I was foggy

I wouldn't testify to it! I just remember someone else mentioning that in a thread about Frontiers on here a few weeks ago.
Cool, so after 09 they seem decent
iirc the radiator was recalled so they were replaced under warranty.

Late 08, but they ran out the clock on a lot of owners unloading their vehicles when they were told that the radiator is somehow not part of the drivetrain and therefore not under warranty.
The radiators affected Xterra, frontiers, and pathfinders from that era, but any that we’re affected would have been replaced by now.
They're pretty simple, biggest issue is dust clogging up the evap valve because the canister is in a bad spot, the radiator issue, the fuel sending unit on really early models, and the ipdm relay.
Love mine a lot. Only weirdness is the wheel bolt pattern of 6x114.5
Only unhappy(ish) at the moment is it seems I need a new pinion seal on the rear axle at 58,xxx kms. I guess I'll pipe the axle vent while I'm under there and refill with some yummy synthetic gear oil. Maybe I'll even spring for a fancy diff cover too.
