How does the GT-R fit into this? Will that model continue?

And have we discussed the RWL tires yet? (Love them.)

At first glance, I was pretty impressed. But the more I looked at the individual styling elements, the more I found that I didn't like.

However, once I saw the Z and Supra side by side, I realized that I was being pretty nit picky.

Yikes

I wasn't digging the rear until I noticed a little Z32 in there. Still would vote for the tail to be squared-off like the original. Add a sharp edge to the car.

That is my exact issue with the rear light panel. The taper just doesn't look right.

Maybe that's what it needs. The rear seems a bit too rounded compared to the front. Or it could be color-dependent.

Check out the side skirts from the rear? That black insert adds something.

Why wouldnt the GT-R continue? 100k awd big power quasi supercar and $40k 400 Rwd flagship aren't really in the same space and globally have coexisted for 50 years.

Just wondering, especially as that space shrinks and the GT-R gets older by the day. Has Nissan hinted of a replacement? (I guess I know people I could call.)

What I don't like about the rear, aside from the dumb black roof, is that it looks like a Mustang and even has a shiny badge in the middle. I get where the taillights are coming from but I'd like to see something that sets it apart, visually, from a Mustang. Maybe ditch the way it puckers and flatten the rear? Idk.

I kinda like it without a spoiler, depending on the angle, but a spoiler could be a very nice addition. So long as it's not the spoiler from the Zupra. I'm not a fan of the black bumper trim, hopefully that's a placeholder on a prototype.

I guess I'm in the minority too as I like the Supra.  The front sort of mimics current F1 and prototype cars.  Anyway, it's pretty easy to nit pik the new Z, but I think the overall concept is decent.  Of course I liked my 370Z (and 240Z) as well so I may be prejudice.  Depending on how long away the release date is, it may be a front runner for my DD replacement.  I definitely would like to know the specifics however.

Probably more important in Japan than the US that they continue I would think.

The whole forum is nit-picky and both cars look great. In person the Supra is beautiful to me!

And where does this magical 3300lb number come from as being the threshold of too heavy?

Asking GRM what they want in the ideal car is like asking your lady "What you want to eat?".

I am pretty sure the answer to that is an NA Miata with an LS swap.

Kinda like when the camaro came back average grm forum user was like "big, bloated, only v8's for performance packages, needs more handling" so gm was like "ok new car is smaller, 400# lighter, and berkeley it, here's a 4 cylinder turbo badass autocross package" and forum guy like "ugh blind spots something something i'll pass" like they would ever buy one new anyway.

3,300 is a middleweight, I will admit, due to modern cars getting really fat.  And yet, it's 1,000 lbs more than a Miata weighs and 500 lbs over a BRZ.  Heck, even a Cayman these days is 3,000 lbs.

Having said that, putting 400 hp in a 3,300 lb car gets you close to C5 Z06 territory, so it's going to be fast.

Let's just hope it's still $30,000.

As for looks, they are subjective, except for the Supra. It is absolutely hideous in pictures and only somewhat better in person.

Having seen the side view, that's way too little greenhouse. By miles.

...and a bit more greenhouse would let them mirror the pretty curve in the 240 roofline more closely

Which would give it an unacceptably high, by modern standards, drag coefficient.

Aerodynamics? With the number of bloated SUVs on the road, I think they can give me a pretty roofline.  If that messes with the fuel efficiency, but I they can reach that target by

( Wait for it )

See, problem solved.  I get my attractive 1970s roofline, and the world gets a better handling car. cool

the styling has a funky angle or two, but this is just the concept, it might change between now and then, and if it doesn't then the aftermarket will likely cook up all sorts of kits to change the appearance.

I hope so.  An aftermarket hood with a bit of center bulge would also be nice....more of that S30 vibe.

I'd love to see it in a few different colors. Dark, non-metallic green, please? Maybe with a black hood and some dark bronze Watanabe-style wheels, too, if it's not too much to ask for?

I don't dislike anything about it. Did not listen to the soundtrack, so don't really know much else. Unlike when the Miata and the Toyobaru Twins were revealed, I have no sudden urge to go put a deposit down on a car that is not yet in the market. So, kinda like meeting a pretty girl on the street, admiration but no infatuation.

Heck, I'd love to see the entire 1970 color pallet!  It get's tiring looking at the same variations of grey and white on every new car.  Let's have some fun, different colors.
