I was at autocross with the Mustang and I was telling a fellow competitor, who owned a Skyline GTR & NSX, how great Foxbody Mustangs are as everything is stupid cheap.

It only occured to me today that I may be morphing into a Foxbody Fan Boy.

How did this happen? These were mainstream cars back in the day and I'm counter culture............how the mighty have fallen.

On more upbeat note; the new carbon LSD clutch plates are.working great.

There is nothing more counter-culture than embracing something popular because it is cheap and effective.

It happens.  I wanted one in 1986, got one in 2016, was not disappointed.

Did you get those frame ties in yet?  Sure would be sad to crack an A pillar.

Not yet but I won't track it till I do.

We've only done a few autcrosses with it for a total of 23 runs with it.

Based on the 100 threads you've made about your mustang or foxbody mustangs in general, I think we already knew you became a fan boy lol

As a member of the higher mileage club, I was into Fox bodies when they first became a thing. And enjoyed one in particular for many years. Eventually putting EVERYTHING in the car. It was glorious.       Had to sell that car to keep babies fed when the sky was falling and stepped - all- the way out for years.     Fast forward to several years ago my then teenaged sons and I rescued, restored and resto modded a really neat 20th anniversary convertible and then finally after many years of searching brought home an 87 SSP coupe recently. Its a project. But all of this is to say that my love for this fun has been rekindled.      And I spent a few hours yesterday in the company of Tom Dugan. Tom was very early in the Fox aftermarket and mod biz. To my knowledge he was the first to swap Capri fenders to a Mustang. Four eyed noses onto aero nose cars... Had a proprietary hood and wing before everyone made those. He had a HUGE parts catalog and touched a lot of cars! You could not ride around anywhere in Georgia back in the day without seeing a Dugan car.   And BTW, after years away from Mustangs is building a rather racy little coupe for himself now.     So yes, now like then Fox bodies are really really fun. And that's why I still am a GRM type person after all these miles.

Here is the funny thing. I like the car it's fun and cheap. These are my main criteria for a car.

I've owned the Datsun for 40 years and it's only in the last 10 that I've come to love it.

So thus far I "like" the Mustang but I'm not as jazzed about it as I am my single seat cars or the Datsun.

At this point I'm likely married to the Mustang but don't know it yet.

In reply to Tom1200 :

I have one now and I see what you like about it. Though mine is a bit more modded and cleaner. They're simply fun af.

Also Foxbody Mustangs (this exact one I have now) is the exact car that got me into cars. And then my step-dad had a 78 Z that sent me over the edge.

I tell people it gives you the same kind of buzz as if you stole your mom's car and went blasting down dirt roads at midnight.

Mine is clean but definitely not perfect; which is good given it's intended use.
