Wish I had heard this earlier: John Haas, Challenger, messageboarder, car guy, passed away in October. This piece paints a nice photo: http://www.metropulse.com/news/2013/nov/13/remembering-jon-haas-imaginative-developer-who-mad/

Bummer. It's been on my list to visit his bar if I get within spitting range for years. He was holding the Evil Alliance trophy hostage since 2008 (IIRC) and I'd hoped to bring it back to the $20xx tradition. Unfortunately, I never got to meet him.
Rest in peace.
Bryce
Man, what a shame. I noticed his absence one time but really didn't think anything of it. My thoughts are with his family and friends.
[EDIT] Having read through that, I continue to be dumbfounded by the amount of stuff some people manage to accomplish. I wish I could have done a quarter of what he has, and I am 10 years older.
Amazing dude for sure, never knew how huge his drive/ambitions were. Always wanted to go to the barcade. Damn he will be missed. Great guy, RIP.
Very sorry to see this. My most unique barter transaction was thanks to Jon. I had a T56 for an LT-1 that he wanted for one of his many projects. He traded me a super nice new Bosch dishwasher for it. I still get a kick from telling folks I traded a transmission for a dishwasher.
RIP.
I've tried a few times to write a post, and words just can't convey the feelings. His family will be in my thoughts. RIP
And here's his $2007 Challenge car. Way cool doesn't even behind to describe it: http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/articles/forty-niner/
I too was thinking Wow.
Wow, he's gone.
Wow, he accomplished a lot.
Wow, I would liked to have met him.
