I think that a 351 Windsor should go in there. A Cleveland would be too large and heavy. The weight penalty of a Iron SBC would be significant as well. It goes without saying that a LSX would be lovely, although it seems that the cheap ones are the first couple of production years - which had some problems from what I've heard, whilst 5.0 Furds are common as turds.

Snug as a bug... 351 carbed FB
This is a bit old but im thinking of doing a V8 swap in my 1988 FC. I want to stick with a carb setup either 302 or 350 with a 5 speed. Can anyone tell me if I can fit it under the stock hood? I hate to cut the aluminum hood and let everyone know a v8 lives under the hood.

You've walked into the Church of the Car and asked if this is a good idea? We're all enablers in the worst sense of the word.
I has car and welder. Tell me how to make this happen too!

Sweet build aussiesmg makes me wish I had a FB hope my FC turns out like that one day...
350 and 5 spd is easier to fit under the stock hood, as the Ford has a more forward engine position due to it's oil pump location vs the FC's steering rack.
