well why don't you move there and find out? This isn't germany nor sweden now is it?
EDIT: Germany has a single kilometer test section. Sweden has it only for buses/trucks designed to use it on an island. In the frost belt, until we can build roads that don't fall apart every 3 months it's not going to be successful.

Both. The plans that I've seen and read about have hydrogen combustion coming to market first in ~3-5 years (depending on location/government incentives). And then the hope is that adoption of hydrogen combustion can accelerate viability of fuel cells via increased infrastructure, etc. Seems like most current estimates put that in the 2040-2050 ballpark.
Thank you for that explanation. I assumed it was like our race car fuel cells.
By 2040 we should have contactless charging on some of the major highways. There are already sections in Sweden and Germany with that.
Elon Muck bought the German company that was doing that. So between better batteries and contactless charging. Range anxiety, the final obstacle to EV's, will be gone.
LOL @ Elon Muck! I'm curious how the US will implement contactless charging when we can't keep potholes filled and bridges in repair.
I suspect that America will start spending more on infrastructure and less on the military. That's been the general trend for the last 5 presidents.
I think America who spends more than the rest of the world on our Military is beginning to understand another trillion dollars spent doesn't make us any safer.
IMHO

Forecasting 10+ years in the future isn't ever going to be an exact science.
I can also see gas stations who already only make a nickle a gallon would be eager to sell electricity and gain all those profitable snide sales.
Plus bathroom breaks, stopping for food etc. faster charging batteries?
A lot to look forward to

Again mguar, if you can't back up all your claims, you should be prevented from posting.

However Elan Musk spent a lot of money buying that company. Since he's a successful business man I suspect he has plans.
Though it does bring up an interesting question about retrofitting older EV's?

He spent a pile of money buying Twitter as well. That's not gone particularly well for him. He bought it for $44b. Today's value is somewhere around $14b.
While I overall like the way he does things, he's not a god. Just a guy that puts his pants on one leg at a time just like everyone else. He's also been known to exaggerate and change plans in an instant.
You need to stop the hero worship and start looking at the reality of the world as it is.

The problem is the outrageous claims you make tend to marginalize everything you post. Even when you are giving good information about a subject you actually know about, people discount what you say because they get tired of separating the wheat from the chafe.
At this point, I only read your posts for the laughs and automatically disbelieve every fact you share. You aren't doing yourself any favors.

Too bad you weren't taught any manners. The polite thing if you disagree is walk away. Or on the internet just ignore posts of people you don't like.
You see,I never heard that you were appointed the Forum police

No, but it makes the uni-party politicians who vote for wars much richer when they get kick-backs, so excuse me while I laugh myself off the couch again.

100% you can say what you like and no one has to agree. That said if you aren't willing to back your claims, don't expect agreement. Back up your claims or accept the earned criticism.
The US is spending more on social programs than on the military. The interest on the debt is out of control. Debt is up almost $2 trillion since the debt "deal," which was no limit on spending. The same group of morons that can't fix the infrastructure we already have aren't going to build anything new. The sooner you get on board with firing them all en masse the better. Everyone needs to wake up and fire them all. If that doesn't happen soon a better future is about as real as your unnamed sources on how long it takes to complete an oil or gas well.
I wish I had the luxury of dreaming all day and denying any semblance of reality.
In reply to frenchyd :
Frenchy, listen. What I've gathered from conversing with you on other threads I think you are a decent guy. I'm saying this as a friend. The problem is whenever there is a thread about electric cars you post WAY WAY TOO MUCH. Much of it is incorrect, so the entire thread becomes your post, and then people trying to correct your post, then repeat. Give other people the chance to talk. You are dominating the conversation and it's very rude. Maybe limit yourself to one post a day on any particular thread, that's plenty.
Thank you
My inability to do what most younger people do automatically is a valid reason to doubt me. It's not valid to say I'm lying. Not on a friendly site because you disagree with me.
I have started to site sources. To help others confirm. I don't blame those who disagree for not checking the source. I'm very reluctant to go to sites I know nothing about.
I'm also trying to be very careful to list opinion. However some say my opinion is also a lie.
Regarding the national debt. There is only one way to reduce the national debt. Collect more taxes.
So every time you hear a politician tell you about a tax cut/Break/reduction. He is also telling you that he is also going to raise the National debt. No reducing spending isn't going to save much.
If you look at the record the lowest the national debt ( post WW2 & Korea ) has been compared to the GDP ( saves adjusting for inflation) Is 22%.
But every President who actually tries to lower the debt is punished by a single term. Witness, Carter and Bush sr. (1 R&1 D )
Candidates who say they will cut taxes get elected and re-elected.
But if you look the party that says they will cut taxes also raises the national debt to GDP The most.
Finally in pure dollars. Each new president assumes the debt of his predecessor. So the hole gets deeper and deeper.
However America's 31 Trillion dollar debt against its 20 Trillion dollar is nothing compared to some countries.
China's 51 trillion (. Semi official number ) to 84 Trillion ( highest estimate) against their smaller GDP is the biggest in dollar terms but debt to GDP ratio is higher in many countries.
Also social programs like Social security. Isn't a social program. Pure and simple it's insurance. Paid for by workers and their employers. Not by the government ( who have used it as a slush fund ). Which is why we don't see a big bank account balance.
When you say social programs are the biggest part. Only if you. Falsely count social security.
It also does a great deal for our economy. Because of that entrepreneurs can take risks and if they fail (50% failure rate the first 5 years) they won't starve because they still have social security.
When we provide facts that the statistics you are spewing are flat out lies and you double down? There's no polite way to go about that. You're lying, refusing to admit you made it up to make some off the wall point. An intelligent person when provided with proof that their opinions are incorrect and the "facts" they have provided are not true, will own up to it, admit they were wrong and learn from it. You do not. You will double, triple and quadruple down on the same lies you've been spilling here for months on end. You are not the smartest person in the room. I know that I am not, but I also know a bullE36 M3 artist when I see one.
Well, this has gone down the drain of national debt and politics... How do you like yours?
