That Atlas originated from Jaguar?! I have never, ever, heard that.

What would the bore centers indicate? Do all Jaguar products use the same ones? This is intriguing to me.

I was "banned" because I used the sort of language you just used. The engine in question came from Jaguar and has nothing to do with the earlier 4.2 developed from the 3.4 designed by Lyons during WW2 as others less well informed have assumed..

If you bother to spend any time investigating, you'll find GM and Jaguar have a long history together. In addition the V8 used in Rover's is a direct development of the 215 cu.in. Buick aluminum V8 from the early sixties.. Fords flathead V8 found a new home in France after Ford stopped production in 1953.. I'm sure there are plenty of other examples of component re-use but those are the only ones I've read about..

It's an old people thing. My Mom gets like this with stuff on FB, and makes serious comments about things that are clearly not mention to be taken serious, or old stuff that she just found.

One of the reasons why I'll never have a FB account.

FWIW, I enjoy frenchy's posts when he's enabling about Jags.
