My Wife's H2 needs a set of shocks. Took a ride over to the Rock Auto website and we have the following choices
OE replacement
Gabrial is the only real choice priced at between $20-30 each
Improved Quality
KYB at about $45 each
Monro for about $60 each
Rancho for about $70 each
Lastly Heavy Duty ones there is only one listed with a price
KYB mono max for about $60 each.
It has been a while since I have purchased shocks any recommendations?
I bought the orange Konis for my Silverado truck that Tommy put on his Ford truck. Tire Rack.
Truth is I'm never happy with anything but these are good.
With those prices I might just call the local GM dealer and see what they have on the shelf collecting dust.
The ones I am replacing are the OE shocks that came with the truck so 18 years and 160k miles is not bad.
Out of those options, monomax.
But find bilstein shocks. Best truck shock ever in my opinion.
I will hunt around and see if I can find some bilsteins. They have always made good units for cars.
Tire rack has the 5100 series. I can get all four for about $240or so due to a close out.

Thats a good deal. Two fronts for mine were 150...
Damn I want bilsteins for my Expedition and they're about $150 each
Bilstein by a long shot.
If you absolutely had to get something from Rock Auto I'd go with KYB.
Ignore my previous post the Bilsteins on Tire rack are for trucks with lift kits only. Oh well.

I have used KYB in the past (20 years ago now? ) and liked them. I put them on a 190e 2.6 with some Yokohama tires and really liked the combo.
So I put four KYB mono max shocks in my cart at rock auto and it is going to be about $250 or so. I may try cross shopping them on Amazon but hummer parts there have been thin on the ground.
Ended up going KYB. MonoMax. Rock Auto ended up being $25 cheaper than Amazon and has the same delivery date. It has been a while since I got anything from rock auto. Do they still toss a couple magnets in with things?
Bilstiens we're going to be $100 a cornet and actually finding them in stock was the real issue.
I ordered from Rock Auto pretty much every other month. There's always a magnet in the box which my little guy loves.
I also put those same shocks on the rear of my 08 mitsubishi raider(fancy dakota) and I can attest that they work. Nothing to write home about but no complaints either.
Good luck getting them on the promised delivery date if your RA shipment is coming via FedEx.
I did get a magnet with my last order, however.

Odds are good that his experience with Fedex will be just fine. I never have any problem with them and I order from Roackauto about 30 times per year. I've seen your thread on the matter so I know what your experience is.
I have a WK grand cherokee & ordered the front Gabriel's for $8.80 each. Yeah yeah, I know - but they will be way better than the blown out 200k ones.

Rock Auto is the suck. They have screwed up 3 of 4 orders from them.
Shop local, keep the little guy in business
One time, my Rock Auto order shipped from an address just 3 miles from my house. That's when I learned that Parts Authority is part of Rock Auto (RA) or vise versa.
Now, I check the price with that place just 3 miles from me first. If they have the item it is generally at the RA price.
Parts Authority has locations in many states.

Following up on this. The shocks showed up on time packaged well and I even got a magnet. They sent me a H2 magnet. It is kind of cool that they sent a magnet of the car the parts are for. Shocks look good. The photos of the parts did not show that they come with bellows to protect the rod. I am very pleased with that. Otherwise they look to be a decent quality shock.
I've got to eventually buy some shocks for my 88 C2500, so I'd like to learn how you like them after a month or so.
Can I hijack this thread a little?
Looking at replacement shocks for my '79 Power Wagon, also from Rock Auto. Last time I got shocks, I needed something cheap that wasn't rotted in half, so I got the cheapest Monroes they had. I'm getting ready to replace the front leaf springs, so I figured it would be a good time to swap the shocks. Right now, my frontrunners are the KYB Gas-A-Just monotubes. I've used Gas-A-Just shocks in the past and liked them. They are only $33/ea. Great on passenger cars, but how are they on a 4x4 truck? They have to be better than what I have, right?

I put gas-a-just on all my trucks. They ride fine and are cheap.
