And as soon as the ad goes up I get two text messages both of them asking me to email the person something. One asks if I still have the vehicle and to email him.
The other says he saw the ad on his "old phone" and could I email him pics.
These scams are getting so annoying.
I always love the email or text that says could you please email me pictures / your best price to xxxxx@mail.com.

I think that's the Craigslist response.

Hell... I almost thought you were serious for a second.
Okay, so this is amusing. Two text messages from different numbers requesting pics to the same email address.
Damn, they really need to do something on Autotrader to keep bots from harvesting the phone numbers.

I tried that with Carmax. Granted I might get a little more from somewhere else, but I really need something closer to retail price.
So what you're saying is, Autotrader is the new Craigslist?
My most recent Craigslist experience here: https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/craigslist-shenanigans/106375/page1/
I had a very long text message conversation with a CL scammer when I sold my wife's BMW. I kept him going the whole day while he asked for me to give him my bank information over and over again so he could send the money over. Then at the end of the day I declared that my wife had gotten into an accident and totaled the car.

I think I'm already in touch with him. Apparently I'll be one of the royal family after this transaction finishes!

I just gave it a shot for my '05 Scion xB that I'm trying to sell. Autotrader was at $3033. CarMax offered an even $4k.
I'll need more than either of those offers. If no one wants to pay $5k, I'll just keep driving it.

If you were a dealer getting scam emails they would care, but since you are a private seller they don't give a hoot.
Best thing to do is use a burner email address and a Google phone number.
Is this one yours?
If so, that is a great deal for someone! That's less than a lot of the ST2's that are out there. I wish I was in the market, otherwise, I'd be all over it.
Trade for an Xbox (no cords) and a dog?
Or a foxbody? Lol
Good luck with sale. I wish I were in the market instead of just window shopping
I always agree to what ever the scammers offer, and then I mention that I will meet them at the gate of the base I'm stationed at. they never take me up on the offer, don't know why.
You'll need to log in to post.
