At last night's SCCA meeting we were talking about how this was the worst kept secret ever. But Mid Ohio 2016 and Indy 2017 means 2hr travel for both, woo hoo!

Indeed. Exciting is discovering an out-of-order restroom in your office when you've just had a breakfast burrito and a pot of coffee.
I was hoping maybe they'd say they were actually going to put a bit of effort into promoting rallycross and rallysprint, more than the word-of-mouth effort that has been taking place so far, for the most part.

I laughed. This whole thread is full of Lolz. Cool announcement about runoffs at Indy though, I guess.
Indy is cool because it's one of 2 hubs for racing in the country. Getting representives for the businesses that are in and support the races able to attend them at a low cost to them is a very good thing.
Cool. I will actually try to attend. It's not that far away and I have some where to stay. Who wants to have a GRM paddock party/BBQ

Also note that the conference and expo has been held in March at the other motorsports business hub the past few yearx, Charlotte, NC. Someone at the SCCA is doing some smart thinking. Exposure and networking opportunities, it all makes sense.

My coworker and I ate at a Hipster Style Mexican restaurant in downtown Albany NY. The churro donuts were awesome. The tacos were ok.
The word has been out about this for a bit, pretty cool venue for the races.
How many cars are present for a championship weekend? A regular race weekend taxes the facilities at a lot of the tracks I visit. I imagine that growth in the sport will pretty much require championships to be held at large facilities in the future.

Bob, do you think Indy SCCA would let me run a racing mower in FMod? I'm totally serious.

THAT'S an exciting announcement.
Meanwhile, NASA will have their East Coast Nats at Watkins Glen, a track with actual elevation changes.

I recall reading somewhere they plan to move the Runoffs to a different location each year for awhile.

Yup. Our division leader was at our meeting, rattled off the possible places after 2017 but I don't remember now. Laguna was one I think. Dammit now I forget.
