Next season tire shopping is coming up fast and I was woundering if I stick with RE-71r's again this year or if I switch to the new hotness.
When is my favorite car mag planning its comparaison test?

I've been watching the RS-4 as well. For me the big question is: is it still going to be a high-heat endurance tire like the RS-3, or has Kook gone the "cheater compound" route like the RE-71R and the Rival S. Put another way; is the RS-4 an auto-x/time trial/one-lap wonder/fast wear tire, or is it a true road race tire that will withstand long sessions and multiple heat cycles with reduced wear?
The only data I've heard comes from.....someplace I can't talk about, but the word is about a second per minute over the RS3 on a couple of different test tracks. No info on durability or wet performance or anything like that, but faster and worth waiting for.

One second faster on the second hot test lap, or one second faster for the duration of an extended track session? Makes a big difference when describing the character and intended use of the new tire... If they have designed the tire to stay consistent for multiple heat cycles (12 to 18 would be nice) AND handle heat without greasing, AND still wear like iron, AND gain a second per minute over the RS-3 V2 (in short, all the assets of the RS-3 V2 including the turn-in quality and at the limit precision) then I will be impressed, indeed! And, I would be running them for this year's track season.
