Feels good to be right.
Got it mostly put back together tonight. Took my time and things went pretty well other than initially trying to put the valve covers on the wrong sides- that was embarrassing even to myself.
this is probably the first project where I was careful to take photos and they saved my butt.
I'll let the permatex cure till tomorrow afternoon then put the last hose, fan and shroud on and fill it.
let's hope it starts! It's at least an awful lot cleaner now.
You had a remarkably busy day full of winning. Congratulations!
Did you manage to get that tang out with the intake off?
In reply to Nockenwelle :
No- I've not worked on that yet. If it does give me an issue I've had quite a bit of practice getting to it! Would likely only take me 30 minutes or so to fix.
It's certainly on my mind.
Drove the truck around about 30 miles today and it runs better than ever. Coolant temp is a bit lower than before which is better and it's more rock solid. Truck has more power, perhaps just from cleaning up some passages? I did put new plugs in it right before it puked it's guts last week so that's probably part of it. I do have an evap leak, a hose is crumbling under there from just past the butterfly to evap. Making the throttle slow to com back to idle. Still- Overjoyed at the success on this.
Many thanks to the encouragement from everyone.
