I'm considering finding a long nose 1.6 to put in the '90 track car and selling it.
I would then use those proceeds to turn the '06 Miata into a dual-duty car for the next few years, then turn it into a barely street legal track only toy.
I'd love to see what the NC could do with a bit more power/tq, proper suspension and sticky tires. I could go ahead and do that, but that takes money away from track fees, etc.
The negatives would obviously be tracking a car that I would need to get me to work the next day. The track car is paid for and the chassis itself is well prepped (lots of stiffening, sport brakes, good safety, etc.) but eventually needs some more HP and the 949Racing "Big Grip" package.
I'm one of the most vocal proponents of having a "throw away" track car, but the thought of maintaining only one instead of two and opening up the other half of the garage is appealing.

Simple answer, buy the NC, then something else......

He already owns the NC. (Daily driver)
I wouldn't do it.
Keep both. More power can still be an option for the NC, but i'd keep that as strictly a street car/occasional fun autocross or something.

Ahh, my bad
Sell the NA Miata, buy a real beater to drive to work in.

The LeMons car I bought smelled gross and was rusty as hell, but it would've been a fine daily driver after I stripped the carpet out. Keep watching Craigslist, you'll find something suitable. If $500 cars can race for 14 hours, you can find one to take you to work.
The trick is to not have any shame.
Sell them both and get a C5 vette for dual duty. I don't know about the rest of the country, but here in Atlanta they're starting to show up in good condition for around $12k. Best deal on a car that fast as far as I can tell.

As someone who has driven quite a few crapcan's over the years, I really have no desire to drive something quite that terrible ever again.
