As usual, you have done great job, and I am really grateful. Thanks to the staff for your efforts at making our strange group of misfits a family, and our slightly warped and distorted fantasies a reality!

...maybe that didn't come out right...

See you next year with my next batch of stupid ideas!

Thanks from Team Stampie also. At least in our second year things slowed down but still amazing what you guys pull off in two days. Was great seeing everyone again and some new ones.

Agreed. I have even more respect and admiration for the whole GRM staff after seeing in person how hard they work to pull off this awesome event.

Thanks to everyone for coming out and continuing to make this event so awesome. We just provide the stage. You guys make it great.

And singleslammer, as staff I don't know if we're supposed to have or express our favorite entries—but hey I'm not one of the concours judges. Your brand of insanity struck a nerve with me. A misspelled Chinese turbo within arm's reach of the driver with only some chicken wire separating flesh from impeller: That's the kind of idea I usually come up with, only to be talked down by more reasonable folks before actually implementing it. I felt a strange connection with your team and your car. Anyway, I solute you and everything you stand for. Hope to see Laughing Clown Racing again next year.

Man, and I just voted SVreX up to +2!

Now having seen some footage of the event, I really really want to go next year.

I wonder if Dr. Boost needs any "crew"

The weekend was a blast! Thank you for providing such a great place to enjoy our cars and meet great people. I also want to thank all the other Challengers. This was my first year as a challenger (black Audi S6) and everyone was quick to lend a hand or share helpful tips. Thank you all.

Hey guys... finally made an account on the forum awaiting just such a thread. Wanted to say thanks again for having me, and thanks again to everyone who let me drive their cars at the event! This was hands-down one of the best events I've ever been to and easily the most fun I've ever had playing with cars. So thanks to all the competitors and the GRM staff for a great day!

Thanks Ed. That is really great to hear as new comers. We are already discussing next year's build. Chances are we are going to pick a new, and more permanent, name though. The crazy will be staying however.

Thanks so much everyone. We may have provided the fuel for this thing, but you guys brought the spark and it's just been raging out of control ever since. That's barely even a metaphor.

The atmosphere at these events is really unparalleled. I really want to reach into the internet and strangle people when the inevitable trolls (who have, of course, never been to a Challenge before) chime in with their whining about how the event is bullcrap or the builds aren't legit or whatever. The crazy thing about those complaints is that they're so far off of anything that is possibly wrong with the event it's laughable. Not that there's much wrong with it, but we're always looking to improve. And when we look to improve, those are pretty much the last things anyone ever thinks of.

Hey, speaking of improvements, I want to give a huge shoutout to everyone on site who made the autocross go so smooth. That was out first time running an event completely on our own, and we were pretty panicked. We had a LOT of backup systems in place in case something went to hell, but we never needed to implement a single one, and only had to coax a very few people into working. Even so, we have a few clear improvements we'd like to implement for next year (better grid management, limited pro driver "tickets", pro driver express lane are a few we're talking about) that should make that portion of the event even slicker.

It just occurred to me that this year the autocross was like the drags always are- people were hot lapping in desperate pursuit of that last little bit of time. I know it got hairy with the demand for pros, but it was really cool.

Note to self: Next year bring (and apply) sunscreen. I'm going to be a peeling SOB in a few days. While I really wanted to have a car this year it was very nice to have more time to meet new people and spend more time with everyone. I was (and still am) seriously humbled by the "Phil Kime Spirit of the Event" Award. If it were up to me EVERYONE at the Challenge would take home that award. You guys seriously are the best of the best. Thank you for all the love and supportive words.

We really enjoy this event and we are glad we decided to come out a second time.

  1. The event ran pretty smoothly overall.

  2. It seemed like there were a few hiccups with the autocross stopping a few times which got the grid a little slammed. Was that a timing thing or a "not enough workers" thing? (I know once was because a yellow land missile took out the timing equipment lol).

  3. The racing on day one, and concours on day 2 is ideal.

  4. The venue is ideal.

  5. Drag racing into the evening is cool. Although it seemed like we ran out of time this year, did we go later last year or am I imagining things?

  6. I think the discussion of limited runs that count for the autocross is a good idea.

  7. Looking forward to next year!

It was great seeing everyone, thanks to all who have made us feel welcome the past couple of years.

There literally wasn't enough demand. We had planned our two drivers for early and late runs but our late driver only got a couple of runs in before being turned away because of not enough cars in the staging lanes. I was not complaining to much as he was within 3 hundreds of a second of my time and we had a $5 bet on it.

We actually shut down earlier last year. The takeaway message for both dynamic events should be to get in line when things open up. Waiting too long could mean you have to wait for the track to clean up someone else's mess.
