They increase the towing capacity BY 3500lbs with the Max Tow Package. I wonder which of these items does that. My gladiator has the D44 and 4.10s and a locker and A/Ts so I'm guessing is the engine cooler? Also the max tow increases the allowable tongue weight from 350 to 765 but I can't find anything about it increasing the rear spring rate.

We have a Jeep around here with a windshield banner marked "Front toward enemy." I wonder how much self-awareness went into that: Is he intentionally suggesting he's worried the Jeep might explode?
I probably see more modified Jeeps here than any other modified vehicles. I'm glad to see some people are out there driving their projects even if they may not be how I would build one.

1. Max tow is only on the Sport, and Sport S trims.

My Wrangler is a fantastic daily driver to pair with my S2000. Works great in town, tight turning radius, highly maneuverable, great visibility, can't curb the wheels, hops the occasional curb, unstoppable in winter, fun to rip top/doors off in summer, fits a ton of crap, tows a little, and pretty much unstoppable off-road for any reasonable use. The only place it sucks is on the highway. And mine is the Rubicon 4xe, so no need to use gas in town, no worries about abusing a gas engine for short drives, etc etc. And Stellantis needs to move them to offfset all those V8s so they lease them for a song.

I really wish they gave the Gladiator the 4xe treatment. I would be super tempted to trade in my current Gladiator for one.

He is probably an ordinance guy. That is on Claymores and other directional charges. There is a pretty strong overlap between military, law enforcement, etc... and Jeep ownership.
I like Jeeps. This is my 8th one. I went to look at it thinking it would be a parts Jeep for my current one. But this one is nicer and I drove it home.

I'm used to all-terrain tires reducing towing capacity.
I did the Jeep thing for 25 years. Glad to be done with them, not because they are lame, I got tired of breaking every other weekend then fixing it on the off weekends or at night on the trail. My club used to go offroad straight 10 days a year and weekends very often.
Never got into the wave thing. Mostly a bunch of hardons that would poopoo my banged up rowdy v8 (AMC 304) CJ that had the tires bark on turns because I welded the rearend while they are in their mall crawler drinking a latte.
Suby guys wave too, I had a buddy with an STI that would flip them off. The butt hurt looks on their faces was priceless.
That said the 4x4 community is stellar. I moderate a 4x4 New England forum. I wish I had a early '90s XJ still.
My last Jeep:
When I was a kid, I remember my dad would never let us go to the hall after Mass to get doughnuts and we never really did anything with the events or parties they had because "I'm just here to go to church, I don't want to hang out with these people". When we'd go down to the marina, he'd get all tucked off when the other people there would invite us to their weekend pig roast or want to talk or offer beers or something. Again, it was "I'm just here to work on my boat, I don't want to be friends with these people". Pretty much every opportunity for social interaction went like that.
It took me years - and, no joke, coming to my first $2000 Challenge (thanks Tim!) - to manage to start to break free of that attitude. It still sneaks up on me from time to time and I have to consciously remind myself that I'm listening to echos.
I've never owned a Jeep, but I kind of want one. It's not because of the "community", but I have grown to see it as a neat positive.
On a side note, I did have a rental Jeep a couple years back. I probably didn't wave back to a bunch of people because I didn't really realize what I was driving. So to all of the folks that didn't get a wave back from me, I'm sorry: I'm not a grump I just wasn't thinking.
I own a Miata and a MINI, so I understand the wave thing, and NA owners flipping their lights up. The duck thing is gaining ground in the MINI community around here too. No idea why or how it started.

I was thinking an ordinance tech would want to avoid suggesting the trail rig is an unexploded bomb.

Mine is a 2021 so my numbers are outdated but with an MSRP of about $60k and just taxes down, it is about $420/mo for 3/36k.

That's a self-preservation thing, though. Looking for the other Miatas keeps my head on a swivel and keeps me alert.
I didn't know about waving until I got a Subie, as the SHO's were too rare to bother to keep your eyes open for them! Oh, I take that back, motorcycles on quiet roads will often drop two fingers or wave to each other, though Hogley owners will often ignore any other brand. But the performance modded WRX's and STI's will often give a wave or the drifter peace sign, and that works for me.
I'm just gonna leave this here because. These are just the capital-J Jeeps(tm). None have ever met a duck.

In 2019 we bought Gary, a Jeep shaped Fiat. Mostly because it was in stock and a practical size for what we needed. It's been a great road trip vehicle, but I wasn't really into the Jeep culture at first. The tacticool and angry eyes were a bit much. I am a bit weird though too, collecting stickers from everywhere we go which seems to make people want to talk to you. It's been given a few ducks which was more fun than I would have thought, and aside from being kidded about it not being a real Jeep almost everyone we've met has been really nice. Like every car group there's going to be a few shiny happy people but I really haven't met many.
The duck thing seems to very much not be a west coast thing. Plenty of Jeeps here, never seen one. Friend has had an 87 for at least 20 years. No ducks ever and he has never mentioned anything about it.
I always hung around with the Willy's, kaiser and early cj5 people. I was always a outcast into jeep community. Then I bought a square headlight wrangler and it was cool because it nearly always started.
