In reply to DaewooOfDeath: That Cougar is bringing up memories of my 1987 T-bird of similar shape and color. She was my first car and after I did my best to kill her an old guy in my neighborhood used her as a parts car for his mustang. Both good and bad memories.

Add lightness! First gen RX7 is less than 2400 pounds. Available all over with bad engines for cheap. Granny's Speed Shop conversion kit. Looks like the entire swap can be done in a weekend. Good 302 or 350, happyhappy!

I'm curious to know how hard it is to launch one, but I guess I could move the battery to the bed for a slight weight distribution improvement.
The guys around here like to fill the tailgate with concrete. Good bit of weight back where it makes for good transfer. Just don't open the latch and let go of it...
I recall reading about a water bed in the back with an inch of water in it, water slams back when you launch and really hooks it up, not sure if that'd pass tech though.

What about any of the Supercharged 3800 cars?
Or an early AWD DSM?
The 80's El Camino can still be found reasonable.
Along with S10's and Rangers, Dakotas are a plenty also
i have one of those ltd wagons like that brown one, already stripped with free rust lightweight mod!
MK3 Supra is also a possibility. They're comfy and aside from head gasket issues (easily remedied) very stout. Also not that hard to get 350-400 horsepower.
