As your attorney I advise you to do both!
I have a cheap 1uz if anyone in SoCal wants it haha.
Anyway, there is no bolt on manual trans for any UZ engine. I have had a 1uz and 2uz. My 1uz in my conquest has an adapter plate to adapt it to a z33 6-speed. That same adapter plate will also work with the nissan KA24 transmission too and I think the HR transmission too. Only thing I dont like about it is, the adapter plate was is little wide on both sides and the stock LS400 exhaust manifold flanges touch it to the point where you have to cut the manifolds or get some aftermarket tundra manifolds.
Right now, my motor and trans is out of the car getting a new wiring harness and a few other things. I havent touched it in awhile though because of other projects.
I really need to get back on the ball.
By the way...1UZFE + Z33 6sp manual is a match made in heaven.
In reply to Curmudgeon:
There were some crash damaged LS400/SC400 cars in our friendly Pull-A-Part last week when I was there
Your welcome
IIRC there's a place in australia that makes adapter plate for the v160. Bulletproof tranny with 6 speeds, $$$$ though
Peace to Pine Ridge.
http://collinsadapters.com/index.php/adapter-plates.html - Brett Collins. He's a little pricy and can be hard to talk to sometimes but his stuff works. Not as easy to deal with as Bill Hincher.
