Our Corvette C5 Z06 project is getting, well, LS swapped. We’re trading the original 405-horsepower LS6 engine for a more modern 530-horsepower LS3 crate engine built by BluePrint Engines. It was ordered via Summit Racing. In this video, we’ll discuss our plans for the swap, the intrica…

How long was the time between ordering and delivery?

Inside a week, and I think only that long because I delayed shipping to a day I'd be home.

That is considerably different from our experience ordering a Lingenfelter engine. That was months.

Nice.

What exactly is changed on the engine? Looking at that writeup, I'm guessing it's mostly a cam. The writeup says the rotating assembly is both forged and nodular iron, which are two different things as far as I understand. "Nodular iron" is a nice way of saying "stock cast crank". Rods are forged, and IIRC they're forged on the stock dry sump engines.

I assume we'll see a dyno run? If this is rated like a GM "525", it will not make 100 hp more than a stock LS3. The 525s land in the 430-465 rwhp range, the 430s are in the 400-410 range. The Lingenfelter 575 was somewhere north of 500, I can't find the exact chart but it was a lot closer to its rating than the GMPP crates.

Here's a comparison of the three GM options on our dyno. These are all stock LS3s with different cams (480 is the "Hot" cam, 525 is the ASA) and no other changes. Same exhaust other than the fact that one car has had the high flow metal core cats replaced with straight pipes.

In reply to Keith Tanner :

Yeah my undestanding is that the biggest difference between the GMPP 525 and the Blue Print 530 is cam specs and rods. The GM engine has cast rods while the BP seems to have forged rods. BP cam has quite a bit more lift on both cycles, and a little more exhaust duration.

It's getting a refresh and some go-fast goodies from Texas Speed before it goes into my 99 FRC.
