No, because you actually like the car, even in a social vacuum. It's OK that you appreciate others liking it too.
You didn't buy it just because you thought other people would think it's cool.
That's poseurism. Like Keith's BIL up there.

And where do we stand on the tricky topic of loving what you think other people will hate, just to make sure you don't go unnoticed? To my feeble logic, that's the absolute height of poseury.
That's not poseur... It's duchebaggery. Admittedly, the difference can be a fine line.

I find this thread funny as 5 of my cars according to people here are poser cars. I actually found it a bit insulting. I have worked dam hard to afford them and I maintain them to the highest standard and yet somehow I am a poser. This thread has been eye opening.
Some of it I am hoping is tongue and cheek but that is not immediately clear to me.
After asking for the definition of poser + this post, you seem to be looking to be insulted.
The VAST majority of people in this thread have clearly stated it's the ATTITUDE of the people who own certain cars that makes them a poser, not the car itself.

I also find it douchey/lame when I see people constantly asking on social media: "Hey guys, what do you think of X wheels/wing/body kit/exhaust/etc."
The vast majority of the time it reminds of guys going back to the Super Street/NOPI Nights look of the late 90s, which I think is terrible. My standard response if I don't like it?
"Yeah, I think that is hideous, but it's not my car. If YOU like it, go for it! berkeley what anyone else thinks of it. Build your car the way you want it, not what you think others will like."

I ask those type of questions on here.
Mainly because I'm a flake who can't commit.

BMW GS motorcycles. You can ride to Starbucks on literally anything, dude.
As for cars, I'll nominate most anything from the 'decal era' of the 1970s/1980s.
Does anyone else remember the Chevette 'S'? Blacked out trim with red decals was supposed to make it GTI-ish. Epic Fail.
Hey! I had a car that resembled that. 350 Pontiac, 2bbl carb, single exhaust. Yep, a poser.
So, the epitome of a Poser car is anything from the Pro Street era?
I might be a Poser:

I admit it took me months to decide what wheels to order for my BRZ back in '2022. If I drove more I was thinking about buying another set just to mix up the look once in a while. But I don't want to spend another $4k on a different wheel/tire setup.

I was not sure if I should be.
As I get older I find being judgmental based on stupid things like the car someone drives cringe worthy. I realized a long time ago I probibly missed out on meeting a bunch of really cool people because I judged them based on material things like the close they ware or the car they drive. I was stupid.
GRM generally has been accepting of everyone as long as you are not a shiny happy person. It is what has kept this place going while so many others have failed.

Harley's in general.
Trucks that have been modified to be significantly worse at being trucks then when they started.
Well-to-do friend of a friend "leveled" his brand new Platinum Super Duty and put some hideous (and hideously expensive) wheels and tires on it. I commented to our friend in common that he'd taken a perfectly great truck, and paid money to make it worse at doing the thing it was meant to do (tow heavy).
He had a ready retort: "yeah. But he specifically said those wheels were made for the weight rating of the truck."
I said, "yeah, but you know who else made wheels that were good right up to the stated limits of the truck? Ford! And that was $5,000 ago!"

Yep, don't think you should. From car meets and stuff, I've met lots of cool people (also lots of douche nozzles). I remember one time years ago, one of my E30 buddies had recently picked up an E46 M3 and let me take it out a for spin.......have wanted one ever since.
When we got back another guy, didn't know nearly as well, said, "Hey if you enjoyed that, want to take mine out?" It was a few month old 2010 M3, DCT, Borla catback.......absolutely glorious.
Then there were guys driving Lambo's in Affliction shirts, sequined jeans, etc, being absolute condescending douche's if you even looked at their cars and you weren't wearing Porsche/Ferrari gear. These tend to be the type of guys who drive like shiny happy people on the street, refuse track days or learning how to drive, etc. I only had to go on one "drive" when some of those guys showed up before I didn't attend any others.
Doing 140+ on the highways on the way to the twisties, parking it in the corners only to blast the gas again, etc.

When I was younger I'd see loads of old guys with money with cool stuff they didn't really use as intended. Naturally I thought they were posers instead of a guy who could now afford cool stuff.
I am sure if the 17yr old me saw the 62yr old me on my sweet BMX bike he'd think I was a poser. I am OK with that because I kinda am.
The joy of hitting your 60s is you stop caring.
