With the exception of the Audi Avant- I have yet to see anything go horribly wrong in this thread. I particularly like that 6 wheel number with the military tires.

In a way, Beetles are the perfect hot rod donor in terms of keeping with the original spirit of the movement - cheap, and thereby attainable by practically anyone, and fertile ground for endless variations. What's not to like?

In your photo? BBBC - Blown big block Chevy?

The one in the photos I posted is a twin-turbo LS-something, I think.

Distributor in the front. Only a BBC if it has a crank trigger.

There is some stuff here that doesn't speak to me (the Audi is definitely one) but you have to admire the creativity and effort put into these. You guys are making me have dirty thoughts regarding a certain willys jeep I have sitting behind my house.

I'm surprised that I haven't seen this one yet on this thread. Maybe not rat, but crazy!

lol thats not a rat rod I would say. You see a lot of cars like this in Japan though not as worn down. I forget what this culture is called, it's got a name, but they ALWAYS have an external oil cooler like that and it's always older cars like this RX7.
